That sandwich sure doesn't look like one Michelle would approve of, so somebody would withhold it.

Remember what Jesus said about feeding others? -
And remember what Paul said about working and eating?

Conservatives and the GOP obviously do not place much value on the teachings of Christ in this area. -

I don't recall Jesus mentioning stealing from others to do much of anything.
Personally we were raised poor, lived with grandmother (she had cancer) and we mowed yards and planted gardens (cannned) anything to make some money. I remember climbing in the potato bins (reject pile) and going through potatoes to take home. Never remember going hungry though Mom said she fed us popcorn some nights. We always had popcorn, I remember the raw hands I got shucking it off the cob, huge jars of uncooked popcorn, popcorn and more popcorn (what a blessing it was in retrospect).
Life is tough, Jesus said the poor will always be among us. There was systems Christians were to put in place to help feed them (we volunteer at the local feed the hungry Christian ministry). You were not to second gleem your fields, but nowhere did Jesus suggest stealing from others. It was charity that started and stayed with the individual. You want to make the Government god and upset the order that charity was set about to do.
Nobody here is saying you are not free to feed all the homeless people you want to help. Just do it via you own means and not by taking from others. If you want to open your personal home to any and all, good for you, but demanding open borders and welfare for the world is not exactly NOT being selfish. -
He' going to ask what political party we favored?

Crabby - it is NOT the government's job to feed people.
Let the church and other social agcys to that in the way they see fit.
WITHOUT goverment interference.
I visited a church once that had a food closet. One rule was that the church was not allowed when
a recipient received food, he could NOT be required to do anything. In fact, the sheet stated that he couldn't even
be required to answer the telephone. If I was pastor of that church- that sign would come down - and if the food bank
refused to make any more shipments - then we would make other arrangements.
Several years ago, the Salvation Army was sued by a resident. He said he was required to mop the floors -
and thus he should be paid at least minimum wage. (oh, did I mention, he paid no room or board?) -

Hey I have an idea, why don't people provide for their own children like my father and I did? People should not be having kids if they can't afford them. -
