I'm glad to see the Court protect our rights and freedoms by halting implementation of this measure.

Obviously this law would only apply to civil cases because criminal cases are judged according to existing legislation and case law.
NT teaches that Christians should avoid government courts and settle disputes inside the Church. If two members of YOUR congregation put a clause in a contract that disputes arising from the contract be arbitrated by YOUR church council . . . should this sort of contract also be banned?
Would the members of your congregation trust their elders to arbitrate disputes between members? Should such a phrase be added to your statement of faith? -
>What "rights" are being protected by allowing looking to precedent in Sharia law in Oklahoma cases?
The right to agree to any civil contract which does not violate criminal law. -
-
>There has already been judges ruling in cases using world law instea dif US law
In cases that DON'T involve international treaties? -
-
The terms of the contract control. -
If the Bible insists that a Christian should only a religious court, then why should a Moslem only go to a civil court?
-
BTW - such a system already exits for anyone that wants to avail themselves of it.
It's called arbitration.
A MENSA IQ is a terrible thing to waste. -
My fear is that it may be ruled unconstitutional to reference any religious based law and many US laws are based on Biblical principles.
I just don't trust those guys. -
All matters civil or criminal MUST be under the sole jurisdiction of the federal and/or local judiciary.
Any customs which are allowed by these laws would be acceptable unless they contradict the American rule of law.
e.g.
You can only have one wife.
You can't kill your daughter for dating an "infidel".
You can't cut off your neighbor's hand for stealing from you.
etc. etc, etc...

A dispute between two members of your Baptist Church should not be arbitrated by the elders of your congregation?
Sharia law in a civil dispute would be be settled with the equivalent of a "Judge Judy" TV show. -

From the OP URL:
>The amendment read, in part: "The courts shall not look to the legal precepts of other nations or cultures. Specifically, the courts shall not consider international law or Sharia law."
This amendment to a state constitution is unconstitutional because international treaties ratified by Congress take precedent over US law. -
You are swinging with your eyes closed.
You should drop out of this discussion... before the MENSA people regrade your test.
