Yeehaw yall! We have one of those in our area. Several of our folks have visited the church. They have commented they wished we would do some of the things they do out there.
I agreed on one of those things. I would like our church to stop bringing donut holes to the continental breakfast on Sunday morning and just bring the whole donut. -

For the sanity of the people and legitimacy of the ministry for such a church, I wouldn't be pastor. We, by that I mean the church where I serve, has helped to both start a cowboy church and are currently funding another that is located around our ministry area. It is a good ministry and certainly reaches a group of folks that might not otherwise connect with a church.
I'm simply too straightlaced for a Cowboy church, it would hurt their approach for me to be on staff. :) -
Don't let this derail the thread, but I just wanted to mention that we have a Biker Church in my city. I know the pastor (a Baptist), and they have had a good response to that ministry.
There may be a cowboy church in Western Kentucky, but I don't know of one. Maybe some of my colleagues from this same area could enlighten. -

There are 3 Cowboy churches that I know about in our general area. We've gone to one of them several times for weeknight services when those didn't confict with ours. Pastor from that one has substituted for ours in both Sunday services and mid week Bible Study. So, I've heard him in both settings.
Their worship "style" is different from ours. For example, the collection plate is a cowboy hat. Went to one service when a visiting pastor was dressed much like we'd picture a gambler from the era of the "wild west". All of that, from what I've seen, is just window dressing. Those pastors are reaching people. Ordinary people who aren't necessarily comfortable in the "traditional" church setting.
In thinking about this, perhaps there's one yardstick that could be used for measure. Can the pastor of a Cowboy church preach the same sermon at both his church and yours? Perhaps, some can and some can't. I don't know, as I've only heard one CC pastor. He has preached the same sermon in both places when he's filled in for our pastor on very short notice.
Just something to think about. -

This is an interesting group. There is a church within an hour's drive of my home. I might check it out. -

I will never go to a church that affirms this new Baptist creed. It is just as bad as liberalism, only at the opposite extreme.
