We have all been taught in SS that the King had no choice but to throw Daniel in the Lions Den.
After he spent the night - the night - the King released him. Under that sealed order - did the King have the authority to release Daniel. IN addition - there is not doubt that Daniel kept praying to the Lord God - So was that sealed order rescinded? - if so how could it be - if even the King could not change it?

The power to condemn carries within it the power to pardon.
The sovereign power can change his decrees.

All the command said was that the person who disobeyed the "30-day-King-Darius-is-a-god-rule" was to throw them into the lion's den. And King Darius did that. Of course, God spared Daniel. But the order was carried out.
These people had erroneously and to their down demise made King Darius a god for 30 days.
A "god" can do what he likes. Including taking the men who bamboozled him and appealed to his pride and had the death of Daniel foremost in their minds iand throwing THEM nto the lion's den themselves - AND their families.
We do indeed reap what we sow.

How to better stop the mouths (and claws) of lions than with the Lion of Judah?
