When you tell him that 'deacon' really means 'servant'?
And he explains to you that “serving tables” refers to the administration of the local church in meeting the physical needs of its members (the Jewish practice of tables for windows and orphans)….and going through an explanation of the "tables" he realizes that the church really has no room for deacons because the pastors hold tight that reign.....Laugh

I thought you'd like that.

I was actually a deacon at a large church were this was the case. We helped with the Lords Supper and events, but one time in a meeting a discussion came up as to the benevolence fund. Should the deacons have to deal with its administration or should it be a pastor or church administrator. I mentioned that this was, actually, why deacons were implemented (we know "tables" and what it meant, but many members think "dining tables" and food distribution.....not kidding....). Anyway I did question as to the need for deacons for that purpose in that setting. I think I offended some deacons myself.

He is offended if he accidentally dumps his beer on your head, and puts his cigarette out on your arm.
