Be advised DTS is delving into online courses and most of the M.Div./Th.M. is available online. But also be aware that DTS is very expensive, charging between $500 and $600 per credit hour. Right now only about 60% of the Th.M. is available on line. The rest must be completed either on campus at Dallas or at one of the extension campuses located in Houston or Washington DC.
At 120 credit hours for the degree, the cost would be around $72,000! But there are some full time service scholarships available that could bring that down to around $52,000.
By taking advantage of other scholarships and offered discounts you could bring that down to around $32,000. But that is still a pretty hefty price on a pastor's salary.

And then there's my fav Maranatha Baptist University. Which has various options.

The Master of Arts-Theological Studies (36 hour) curriculum has a number of courses that won't fulfill the requirements of their MDiv, particularly the Old and New Testament and Church History Survey courses.
If a student is looking at an eventual MDiv from Liberty, all 60 of the Master of Arts in Religion hours will count towards their MDiv. -
So are you saying my old and new Testament courses won't transfer to the MDiv ? Except they will take all 36 credits in the evaluation I just had done a few weeks ago. Their MATS is designed to seamlessly flow into the MDIV in the advanced standing program. That's the reason I did it first. They are the exact same courses from the MDiv.
I just double checked with them and they will take all 36 credits.
I pasted a cool link below on MDivs and transfer credit.

Here, look at their MATS: http://www.liberty.edu/media/1270/MDBS-MDV.pdf
NBST 510, OBST 510, CHHI 510.
Now look at their MDIV: http://www.liberty.edu/media/1270/MDBS-MDV.pdf
NBST 515 & 520, OBST 515 & 520, CHHI 515 and 520.
Will they take NBST 510 as an elective? I don't know. But you will still have to take NBST 515 & 520 for the MDIV. -
They are in the process of updating course titles right now and many listed on the website are being changed.
As of matter of fact the whole website for online has just been changed over the winter break. -
But as it stands, not all of the MATS courses will meet the requirements of the MDiv. I'm not knocking Liberty's MATS, as I have one sitting in a cardboard cylinder waiting for a frame, but saying that all 36 hours will transfer isn't correct, as the latest published material from the school shows. -
Here is the break down of the MATS to MDiv 75 hour program. All but one fits course for course and the other is substituted. Course names and numbers match up perfectly as designed to do so.

And no matter what minor updates they did to their webpage, those degree completion plans are still current through the spring 2017 term.
-
Wow, they really changed that program around. Last time I looked at the chaplaincy program, it was 72 hours with no Greek. -
-
Well, I apologize if I was being difficult. I just wanted people to understand what they were getting in to.
None of the 90 hour standard MDiv's would accept all of the courses, and the update to their chaplaincy MDiv wasn't on my radar. -
-
Hey, as a fellow MATS guys what are your plans moving forward? Check out that link from degreeinfo I posted above. That guy put tons of work into what schools take what amounts of credit and the cost per hour on the mdiv's. Tell me what you think about it. -
I know the old program was set at 72 hours to meet the military's requirement of 72 hours of graduate education for chaplains. There were those who grumbled about the lack of Hebrew and Greek, which looks like Liberty partially addressed with the change. But while 6 hours each of New Testament, Old Testament, and Church History look like a pretty common requirement, there are plenty of schools that only require 3 hours each (Moody comes to mind).
I thoroughly enjoyed my classes at Liberty, but I went there with the realization that it would likely be my final time in school. It's nice to know that, should a long lost wealthy uncle leave me some money (because nobody on baptistboard would play the lottery :D ), there is an avenue open to finish an MDiv.
