"A government big enough to supply you with everything you need is a government big enough to take away everything that you have.... The course of history shows that as the government grows, liberty decreases." -- Thomas Jefferson

This seems to make sense to me.

"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be." --Thomas Jefferson -
If I remember right the average consumer debt is 14K per person with a credit card.
Ever thought about the idea that the average business such as a large department store pays about 50 percent or less of what is sells for and then if someone charges the purchase and does not pay it off. If the interest is 18 percent the item will have given them another 100 percent in four years. If the retailer pays 50 cents and sells it for one dollar and then the interest is one dollar, the company has made $1.50 in profit on a 50 cent purchase. In simple interst that is 75 percent per year average. -

Like I said, you get what you vote for.

Well these discussions give a new meaning to FOUR MORE YEARS...
The times, they are a changing. -
Diane, where do you think this massive debt will lead?
-
I agree with Major B. I don't scare easily when it comes to such things.
Personally, I'm SO tired of the daily trashing of our country by Christians! -
Me, too. I love America, deeply. I'm so sad to see our way of life, and our marvelous form of government dismantled by politicians with a different agenda. And, even sadder to see Christians supporting them.
-
Unfortunately, it appears that the times will not be changing. More debt, more dead troops as the war drags on, more good jobs lost forever. And further decline of America's moral authority in the world.
And how many more unborn dead because Bush won't make abortion a test for his judicial nominees?
More of the same, that's what we have to look forward to. -
Same old song, same old verse. You two need to get a life now that you have a Great President for 4 more years! :D
-
On the other hand, these stypes of discusions never consider the assets of the U.S. Govt. Of starters, the govt "owns" half the land west of the Mississippi.

Barbarian laments the fact that we will have a pro-abortion president again.
Hardsheller says:

Perhaps it doesn't mean much to you. We'll just have to disagree on that.
(Diane agrees with hardsheller)
Abortion just isn't a joking matter for some of us, Diane.
