That figures...what else would be expected from these guys?

    and...

    Constitutional? What constitution???

Wake up, America...it's 1776 all over again. Would somebody kick King George's silk bloomers to the curb?

Not so sure this is a bad thing. Here in CA, professional tax preparers have been required for years to be certified. It hasn't hurt the industry at all. Not saying I favor it, just saying it's not necessarily a bad thing.

I disagree. Why does the government need to control this sector as well? Keep in mind...in some states, you can't get an interior designer for your living room unless they are licensed by the state.

    Is that really necessary?

Hmmm, given some peoples' interiors, I'm not sure that's a bad thing either :wavey:

What if I'm smart enough to prepare my own taxes and don't see the need to pay somebody else to do it?

I can't speak to the OP, but in CA, it only referrs to professional tax preparers. It doesn't in any way restrict people from doing their own taxes, family members doing other family member's taxes, non-profits doing taxes, or people using softare such as TaxCut and TurboTax.

The IRS already has way too much power.
