RevMitchell and I are chatting on another thread----just wondering what you fellas thought the nation's "Constitution Atmosphere" may be

Lay aside the fact that most would want to defend his/her house in the event of a home intrusion----this is a "Gimmie"

    WHAT IF

it came down to it----suppose a President rose up in the future and openly defied the constitution----and had the backing of the United States military and 3/4ths of the house and senate

or something along those lines of blatant open rebellion by the Oval Office in defience of the US Constitution

What do you feel would be the "atmosphere" of the public ----- as a whole" ----- do you feel that the vast majority of citizens would actually DIE defending the constitution-----or would they take the "easy" way out much like the German citizens(easier to join open rebellion than the only other alternative----die------) in the '30's and 40's

I feel as though the average "Joe/Jane" here in the US would choose to join the rebellion against the constitution rather than risk life/limb in its defense:type::saint: After all-----"O" did win the majority vote of the US Citizens

I am afraid you are correct. I also believe there are enough in the country who are already sick of the Federal Government that they would mount a good revolution. I believe that the secession movement in the country is small now but it could grow substantially as the arrogance of the Federal Government increases.

Suppose the revolution includes the dissolving of the United States Constitution

Most Americans have no clue what life under a totalitarian regime is like. They are more concerned with their bellies than principle.

    It's conditioning.

This is going on all around us. From the TSA conditioning people to put up with humiliating treatment to accepting the military policing the citizenry. Which has been illegal since 1878.

These joint military/police drills have been going on for a long time now. It's nothing new. The police set up checkpoints that condition us to show our papers on request as in soviet Russia. The NYPD have a "stop and frisk" program. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

    Google Search

We're being trained like Pavlov's dogs to accept martial law. I think most folks will submit to tyranny, most do it now so I don't see why they wouldn't in the future.

I cannot speak to what "most" would do. I can only speak for me and mine. We swore an oath to defend the Constitution. It's that simple.

How far do you think YOU would go to defend it?

How far do you think the average American would go to defend it??

Do you think the majority will be led by the leader AGAINST the constitution??

And do you actually believ someone would shoot & kill someone----not in the defense of themselves---but in the defense of the constitution????????

Obama can only push so far and the divide he is creating will reach a point of no return. Plus the disgust of so many citizens over the GOP's constant capitulating to his demands is very real. I believe that this point will occur before an attempt to make him an emperor.

The people will only stand by for so long. The Constitution is under attack. We just seeing more and more skirmishes.

Without hesitation or remorse, and I know I can’t be the only one.

There is no way a majority of the military would go along with your scenario.

Not many under the age of 40 would bother to possibly die defending the constitution.

Almost none under the age of 20.

A large majority of those over 60 would die defending the Constitution and the rights it guarantees.

    Just my 2 cents.

Napolitano needs to put senior citizens on her list of subversives.

This isn't very terribly likely but a better solution (at least initially) then armed rebellion may be a general strike combined with mass protests as seen during the fall of the Communist regimes in Eastern Europe. This sort of a mass movement has often caused the military to back down even in countries where the military owes much more to the government than the US military does.

After how many years of abuse , oppression, and subjugation?

    It might have happened sooner...

if they had not been disarmed.

It might not have even happened at all.

It is not a question of "If it happens." It has ALREADY happened. 80,000 American Citizens were imprisoned in concentration camps without warrants, without probable cause, without the ability to petition a court for redress of grievance. Habeas Corpus was suspended. Their homes and property were seized any much of it was never returned to the rightful owners.

This was not the result of a law passed by Congress or a decision of any Court. It was solely the work of President Franklin D. Roosevelt who authorized the internment with Executive Order 9066, issued February 19, 1942, which allowed local military commanders to designate "military areas" as "exclusion zones," from which "any or all persons may be excluded."

Sounds very much like the language contained in The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) which allows American Citizens to be arrested, held in prison, and questioned without benefit of an attorney, without redress of grievance in a court of law, without a warrant being issued or any facts presented to a grand jury or any court.

Wake up, people! This is not the America I grew up in.

I agree with you!!! Most of the young ex military talk a lot of trash, but don't do much. We have been split for a long time. I recall going to a meeting and hearing a well know black man say the Constitution has nothing to do with black ( I think he said back then color people). I went to a Latino group meeting about three years ago and they were saying about the same thing. I heard a liberal group of caucasian women say about the same thing about a week before the last election. I would say off hand we have half or more of our population that the Constitution means nothing to.

Just a short step back and we can see it going on right here.

A more recent example of unconstitutional trespass without warrant or probable cause and the theft of private property by police and military after Katrina in 2005.

See?? Thats what I'm talking about-----I believe that well over half of the citizens we have now----1. Knows NOTHING of what the constitution even says and 2. Would not be willing to fight(armed) to defend it

So true. To many of us, history begins and ends with us.
