    Dissolved only by death.

“A wife is bound as long as her husband is living. But if her husband dies, she is free to marry anyone she wishes (only someone in the Lord).” (1 Corinthians 7:39) (NET)

Adultery also breaks their Covenant relationship in the sight of God!

I just want to say that divorce is not the unforgivable sin and neither is adultery.

No it does not. Because it would not be adultery then if they remarried. But scripture says that it is. Only death breaks the marriage bond.

True, but sin repented of is forgiven :)

[This is not special pleading. I am still married to the first Mrs Marprelate. 37 years and counting]

But how do you repent from an adulterous marriage if you continue therein?

David repented of his adultery, but he still married Bathsheba. If you are suggesting that he could legitimately do so because her husband was dead, are you recommending that people in a similar situation should murder their spouses ex-spouse?

We have several people in our church who are in second marriages. To tell them that they must separate when they have children and when their ex-spouses want nothing more to do with them is an exquisite form of cruelty.

Yes. Into his arms. For protection and sustenance just as we are in the arms of the Almighty for protection and sustenance but He is not demanding to have sex with us.

It may be time to close this thread. You seem obsessed with other people's sex life, and human sexuality is a forbidden topic on the Baptist Board.

The act of adultery that was not confess and repented of woudl cause a biblcal divorce, and the injured/innocent party would be freed up to remarry in the lord.

Not so, “A wife is bound as long as her husband is living. But if her husband dies, she is free to marry anyone she wishes (only someone in the Lord).” (1 Corinthians 7:39) (NET)

I'm not obsessing with people's sex lives. I'm saying divorce and remarriage is adultery. And proving it......

Adultery does not mean a marriage must end, as God can still have His grace and forgiveness to save, but is also a biblical granted reason for a divorce.

Every one of us will answer to the LORD when we put ourselves in the position of "teacher" or "master" (didaskalos).

James 3:1 My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment.

We are supposed to forgive. And if we do not, we will not be forgiven.

My understanding is that the innocent party in such a situation would be free to remarry ion the Lord.

Jesus knew full well that society then and now would not put the guilty part to death for adultery, therefore the word "except" "except for porneia".

The innocent may remarry as if the guilty part had been stoned to death.

God allows for biblcal divorce for adultery/sexual sinning, and for abandonment by unsaved spouse.

God freely forgives all of his own, so we never are not forgiven, jsut that we hinder our fellowship with God!

I believe we seriously hinder our relationship. And it could mean one of the people living in sin could be taken home early. So to speak.
