If you don't care about color and pics, this one will do fine and holds 5000 songs..or every sermon your have ever heard. It is $169
If you want color and the same capacity this one is 199
Or for the latest and greatest with video this one is 259
There are a couple of different mics you can get, I think they are $30 or so.
Do any of you own an iPod?

I would suggest you talk to someone with Apple about the specifics of using a mic though since I have never done it with an iPod.
I have read that it works well though.
YOu can then of course transfer them to your computer. -
2. That would be awesome.

I have a 40 GB Creative Zen Touch. Fantastic player...I have over 3000 songs on it, numerous podcasts, and it ain't half full. Battery lasts over 24 hrs. of continous use also. I like Leo LaPorte's podcasts (KFI Tech Guy, and This Week in Tech).

I have to put in my vote for the Zen Micro also! It's hold 6gigs, but they have a bigger size now, the battery life is great on mine, I use it all the time!
It also have a built in recorder so you don't need an extra mic to record. I have recorded seminars I went to and they came out great and I was sitting back half way in the crowd.
The price and durablity in my opinion, is a little better then the ipods also.
Check them out at any Best Buy!

The 8gig units go for around $199, I got mine on sale for $30 off when I bought mine.
The 30gig units go for around $299.
In looking for them, don't think that 8 or even 6 gigs is too small. I have over 900 songs on mine, plus the entire NIV audio bible from Audible, plus about 20-30 different sermons ready to listen to, with space to spare.
This MP3 player works with Windows Media player without the need for "special" software, I can sync, add, remove songs without a problem.
Now, it does come with software if you wanted to use it to make playlist and other "cool" features, but I haven't needed them so I stick with simple plug and play, easy to add and remove songs.
Shop around at Best buy and get a feel for them, I think when you look at the look/feel and over all idea of them, you would pick the Zen, but some people like the ipod.

The biggest drawback for me would be lack of AAC file support and incompatibility with iTunes.
Certianly as a player though, they look nice.
I love my 20 Gig iPod though. It is aging now though, it was made in 2002! lol
It is the biggest (physically) iPod ever made -

One thing about the newer larger units is they play movies also.
Also remember an IPOD can hold standard files like word documents etc... This may be very useful feature to a school teacher who never knows when they may need a file or two. -

I've go a 60GB iPod Photo. It's got 57GB of MP3s on it (no photos, etc.) Somewhere over 12,000 files. I ripped my entire CD collection on multiple computers for what seemed like forever!
When I bought it and it arrived, Apple announced the Video was coming out for the same price and a smaller package. I was bummed at first, but really can't say I would ever watch video on an iPod.
We did buy a Monster RF Modulator that works fine on open stretches of road on long trips. When I'm in SF though, it's hard to find a clear frequency without interference.
I also bought an iHome dock, and I dock it at night to listen to music on sleep.
I can't imagine not having my iPod now as I've become pretty attached to it (and put all my CDs in storage indefinitely.) -
