Glad they were OK, your story reminds me of an old suspense movie from the 1970's , "When a stranger calls".

Hehe Yeah, I can still hear his voice to this day. "Have you checked the children"?

OK - Well, I checked the phone records and there was no call to her phone from our house line. I'm wondering if it could be something with hubby's computer. He used VOIP through our cable company to make calls while we were away and I wonder if somehow he didn't accidentally dial while we were gone. You can have it bring up the home number as the number it's calling from so maybe that's what it was? We'll listen to the message that was left on my daughter's cell and see if we recognize voices. :)

    Always

In general both the back and front door is locked and the windows too. Although theft is not high here there have been a couple of breakins in a near by apartment. There are also a lot of kids in the neighborhood. Better be safe than sorry.

I do not disagree with those who lock their doors. I. however, could not live my life in fear of someone breaking into my house.

Maybe that's why I love where I live.

    Cheers,

    Jim

When I governessed in the outback we had no locks on doors but gauze doors to stop snakes and such like coming in out of the heat. We could hear visitors coming miles away,as they would be the only engine noise ...we LOVED visitors, they were so rare.

Nope. There was no way to check to see if hubby accidentally did it. I don't think there are records kept for that sort of thing. But it's the only logical conclusion since the caller ID said "Home" and there were no calls from home.

My son had an app on his phone that allowed him to call a number and make it as though he is calling from any other number that he chooses. It is fun, I guess, to trick your friends, but I can see where it could get someone in trouble. I made him take it off.

Right. From what I understand with Google Voice, you would input your phone numbers and you get a new number so that people can call that new number and then Google Voice calls the numbers you input to try to find you. So my husband has his work phone, home phone and cell phone put in so those are the only choices that you can make to show up as the caller ID number. So it's not like someone else can put your number in for kicks unless when they get a call, it goes to your number as well. It's an interesting concept - but one that I'll not use. :)

When I was a child, my grandmother lived high up on a mountain and the way the road wound, you could see for miles. Whenever I stayed there (I loved it so much there, I used to beg my parents to let me move there with her), we knew there would be visitors a good ten minutes before they got there.
