Unfortunately, a Christian may compromise the principle of the self-attesting word of God, and apply unbiblical criteria for assessing the nature of the bible and its message. They will rearrange its parts; reconstruct its history, remove texts which do not fit their particular philosophy, and reinterpret the whole in light of his own presuppositions which are the product of God-denying thought. Many people have rejected biblical presuppositions, in favour of humanistic ones. - Goldsworthy

I think this applies to many on this board.

Interesting quote. I make this personal observation on how it impacted me.

One of the aspects of my life's work has been to search out presuppositions and see if they are indeed grounded in the Scriptures.

For when I come before my Savior and I see him in all His glory, I will cast myself at His feet in hope that I not be so very ashamed to find that in some great manner I have not used His Words properly or compromised by communicated error.

To be honest i think everyone needs to look at their presuppositions/ foundation of their beliefs and whether it is buit on scripture or philosophy/ideology of the world.

You are clueless.Over 35 words are used in 3 languages to get at what is involved in discussing this topic.
It seems as if you lack the spiritual maturity to work through this topic however you seem to have the deluded idea that you are going to set the world straight as if everyone is waiting for you to enlighten us.

:Laugh:Laugh:Laugh:Roflmao:Roflmao:Roflmao I knew would say that.

Rather than pointing the finger at the reformed/calvinist bogeyman and have a genuine look at your own theology.

Theistic humanism assumes there is a God but, incommon with atheistic humanism, asserts that man is in control of gaining knowledge. He gains true knowledge from nature through their senses, and reasons on this basis what is the correct approach to the study of the bible.

Theistic humanism assumes that man's knowledge-gaining is not hindered by the fact of sin. Sin is seen as a cause of some confusion, but it does not alter man's ability to percieve the truth in nature. Sin does not in any way remove man's freedom of will. Thus, free will is thought of as the ability to determine something which is not determined by God. God does not work everything in conformity with thre purpose of his will, but rather he must waith upon man's decisions.

    Are you a Theistic humanist?

    SavedByGrace,

I do not have any problem here.
I am in the mainstream of Historic confessional thought.
I work to challenge and improve my understanding of these teachings each day, with a view to sharpen up my presentation of the biblical gospel.
I deal with persons like you who are in error, but do not know it.
I expose your error , and offer biblical correction.
Many times those like you have an agenda and do not welcome the correction.
Over the years that have been several who accepted the correction, and moved on.

Others have offered solid teaching that adds to my understanding. In the archives you can see posts, by Biblicist, Tom Cassidy, and others, who are posting to edify, not attack. Several posters on here who do not share your agenda, look to Help.

The majority of Christian denominations are non reformed in their theology

Here in the UK I know of reformed churches closing down and many with declining attendance

Yeah people who are confused, have incoherent contradictory theology and who continually claim to hold to the Bible.
