You get to pick your pastor's outfit for the next four Sundays. He has to wear what you pick.
What'll it be?
I thought it would be funny and also somewhat entertaining to see what the more conservative members pick vs. the more liberal.

I would put the present pastor of my OLD church in
a dress with nylons and a long wig, no makeup,
just as he demands of the women in his church,
so that he could try to empathize with how we felt.
He would be forced to do all the grocery shopping
accompanied by children, and the PTA meetings as
well, with no wedding band on so that he could
hear the comments and put up with the stares. He
would do the yard work in a dress, too.
I would choose the coldest, windiest weeks of the
year, and he would have to wear dresses at all
times when not showering or sleeping.
Yep! I'm vicious!

My Pastor always wears suits and ties. It would be a nice change to see him a little less formal on occasion.

There you girls go again! We just ain't gonna be gettin' off of this "Dress" kick anytime soon, are we?? Now ya'll wanna dress the preacher! Lands sake!
I can be leavin' out the door toward the hospital for someones surgery--and my wife 'ill say, "That shirt needs ironin'!" I say, "Shucks! It'll be all rumpled by the time I get to Jackson(50 miles one way)" And she says, "You're right!" To which I reply, "I thought you'd see it my way!!" HAAAA!
As most of you know---I make up the rules as I go along--and here's a rule for any "dress" subjects from here on out--
Whatever you post on the "dress" topics--you gotta get a clearance from your husband before you go ta postin' it!
I'm sorry, girls! But if you ask me--I'd say that its gotten completely out of hand--believe me about this rule--I know it hurts now but way on down the line you'll thank me for it!!
If you don't have a husband--you gotta get a clearance from your preacher before you can post any "dress" post!! Fair enough, Kate? I am blessed 16(sue)? Wizzy??(I mean, Laurenda!!) Sherrie? One of these days you girls are gonna start listin' to ole Blackbird and his feathered cousin, SheEagle! Fair enough, Stubborn?
As Festus(on Gunsmoke would say) "Now, you girls run on about your business--you done heard enough! Don't go givin' the Marshall a hard time, now!"
No matter what--I'll always love you girls!!
Your Southern Baptist preachin, playin' like he's a Marshall buddy,
Blackbird -
Gina and Abiyah!!?? Do ya'll have a problem with Blackbird's rules??
Blackbird -
What was that childrens rhyme about Blackbird baked in a pie? Where's my rolling pin? "Oh Blackbird...I need a little help in the kitchen...would you come here a minute?"
;) -
Well THAT'S just great Blackbird, now I have to go get remarried before I post on my own thread?? I have my OWN rules on THAT! ;)
Besides, that's the only part of your post I understood! You gots to be more clear my fine feathered friend! Remember, you're talking to women here, we read our moods into your words, so once you say it clear you may even want to repeat it. Deal?
Gina -
Ask my husband? I have to dress him too!
You've stepped in it now! Do you know what we do to blackbirds here in Illinois?
Don't sit on any telephone lines.
Sue -
I wouldn't change a thing! Our pastor dresses very nicely on Sunday mornings and more casual on Sunday nights. Wednesday night is usually dockers and a polo shirt. During the week, if he has nothing special to do, he wears jeans and a shirt to 'work'. I love our pastor. He's not only my preacher. He's my Pastor and a wonderful friend. He's 11 years younger than me but I've never met a more genuine person. His wife is a precious woman. Maybe too sensitive.... she's always worried she has offended someone. At a women's ministry meeting, another woman had worked on an invitation while I was doing publicity. Cindy called me late that night very concerned that I might have felt she had taken over or crossed into my 'area'. She would never knowingly speak harshly or hurt anyone! God has blessed us with such a wonderful ministry team!

Personally, I'd like to see Blackbird in a robe. Bet that would liven up things in Wesson.
-

Sherrie -
Hey Blackbird! I'm with you! My husband says "My pants need ironing" and I say.... "By time you drive an hour to work they'll be creased!" We ladies should salute you.
LOL
Diane -

rsr!! A robe on a SBC'er??? I wore a robe on several occasions--1. High School Graduation 2. College graduation 3. Receivin' a Master's from NOBTS 4. Receivin' a second Master's from Luther Rice Seminary and 5. Before I die and go on to the "Land of the Livin'"--I have as my goal to receive a Doctorate--I reckon I'll have to wear that robe for that, too but that'll be the last time!!
rsr! I hope those girls know I was just kiddin' about the rules! Right???!! I sense several posted threats--something to have to do with rollin' pins and being defeathered--cruel and usual punishment to the BB Blackbird!!
I just ain't gonna preach right in a robe, I'm sorry! That ain't part of the rules--the rules really say that only Blackbird can make up the rules as he goes along!!
Your buddy,
Blackbird -
Aw, Blackbird... I can't speak for others...but of course I was kidding. If I meant you any harm...I sure wouldn't be stupid enough to talk about it first.
About the robe thing...I think it could only be considered feminine...if that was all you were wearing. (If it is...I don't want to know)
Your rolling pin waving, birdcatching, wisecracking buddy.
Wisdom Seeker -
KIDDING! (SHOUTING)
Oh no blackbird! I really want to see you preach in a robe!
ok...ok...ok...ok....
Can you sing in the Choir?
tee-hee!
Sherrie -
As for the question, I don't have a husband to ask, and I don't have a pastor to ask, either, but since I have no pastor, there'd really be nothing to ask about on this issue anyway. -
Stubborn,
If you slow down fast enough--by and by a husband will catch up with you! We could have a BB weddin'--shotgun(opps, I slipped again!!) and all!
Don't have a pastor?? Come on down to Wesson!!
