I loved where the article said that fire extinquishers can make a mess on your suit!
After what happened to the laptop, I really don't think I'd care about additional mess. -
Yeah, exploding laptops are probably going to make a mess IN my suit.
-
Bet that livened up what might have been an otherwise boring seminar! :type:  :wavey:

LOL, I have to use so many Dells all the time at work makes me thankful for my Mac at home.
Of course I would say don't get a dell because most of the Dull laptops we have are cracked or in some other way night quite 100%. Not to mention they are crippled with Windows ;-) -
I never recommend anyone to get a Dell. Period.
For a desktop, either build your own or custom order one with off-the-shelf (not proprietary) parts.
For a laptop, I recommend Toshiba or HP for the most part. -
Trotter, have you ever used a Fujitsu?
They are actually quite nice as wel.
The only thing I have ever seen that was even close to a 12" powerbook. -
Overheating is a common problem. Of course, Dell, among others, has used hotter desktop chips on some laptop models. Also Apple and Toshiba have had issues with power supplies overheating, causing fires and recalls. As to Dale's comments re: Windows, you can get Dells with Linux preloaded.

I didn't realize that you could get Linux on a dell preinstalled.
I am actually typing this one aDell Latitude with Ubuntu 6 installed in a dual boot with XP Pro. -
If you are using Ubuntu, go to www.ubuntuforums.org, and grab Automatix. It is a script that installs all the codecs that are not included, some nice to have utilities, along with newer versions of software. Highly recommended. -
Do you have any suggestion on nerwork printers with Ubuntu? I need to print at work but I haven't figured that out yet. -
On my laptop Ubuntu found and configured my wifi card on the install without any hassle. I like that. -
I have had a Dell desktop, a Dell laptop, and a Dell pocketPC. I'd just like to say, NEVER get a Dell! :type: They are some of the most dishonest people I know, and besides, the owner of Dell is a Mormon.
I now build my own PCs. Here are my current PC specs, :)
-AMD 3800x2
-2gb DDR 500 Mushkin Extreme Ram
-eVGA 7950gx2 with 1gb DDR3 vram
-Asus SLI Premium mobo
-Athena 550w PSU
-X-fi Extreme Music card
-antec case (forgot the name, was only $50 though!)
etc.

I'm a missionary to Mormons, and I realize how dangerous that cult is. -

The way I see it is if given the choice, I would buy from a Christian but I realize that is not always an option.
I love APple computers but I sure couldn't vouch for his religion. (I think maybe Apple IS his religion!)
