As beliefs become set in concrete the sense of wonder dies. Religious folk find ways to figure God out. Beliefs, dogmas and pet scriptures replace encounters with God. They create their own book of proofs. The mystery of God is lost. The awe of encountering God is lost. Mystery, awe ... no need for those. We have our proof, we can quote Paul.
