Mods: Not sure if this post belongs in politics or Theology but I will assume theology since the events are related to Bible Prophecy.

STRIKE PLAN: US Hit on Syria Would Extend Beyond Capital, Sources Say
Will this lead to a war? How is this related to end times prophecy? I am not sure yet as to how this event will play into the larger picture of the return of Christ, but perhaps someone here on the same page can enlighten me on these details. Yes I believe in newspaper prophecy because often what was revealed in the Bible comes true in the news! Perhaps a strike on Syria will lead to a coalition between Russia, Iran, and the other countries mentioned in Ezekiel whom will one day strike Israel and the US will not defend Israel. With Obama at the helm Israel will be left without a defender, even if Ezekiel 38-39 were to come true tomorrow.

SMH...
It has about as much to do with end times prophecy as Obamacare does. -

Trust me, this incident in minor compared to the ones listed above. A blip on a radar. God will execute His final plan when He sees fit, not when the United States sticks its nose where it has no business. -
1948 was a start, 1967 extended to Jerusalem, but NOT the Temple Mount.
This has never been fulfilled. Damascus is the oldest continuously occupied city on the earth.
The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.
The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria:
they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the LORD of hosts. Isaiah 17:1,3 -

Obviously nuclear contamination. Did they have nukes in Isaiah's time? -

Damascus has never "ceased to be a city".
It may have been sacked, but it remained a city.
Actually, it is the LONGEST continuously inhabited city on the earth (5,000 years).
The prophecy says it will be "uninhabital". Jerusalem was destroyed and yet never "ceased to be a city".
They always used the building blocks to reassemble sacked cities. Radioactivity would make that impossible.
Will you still be laughing when you see a mushroom cloud over Damascus?
For thus says the LORD of hosts, "After glory He has sent me against the nations
which plunder you, for he who touches you, [Israel] touches the apple of His eye. Zech. 2:8 -

Tiglath-Pileser III (from the Hebraic form[1] of Akkadian: Tukultī-apil-Ešarra, "my trust is in the son of Esharra") was a prominent king of Assyria in the 8th century BC (ruled 745–727 BC)[2][3] and is widely regarded as the founder of the Neo-Assyrian Empire.[4][5]
Tiglath-Pileser III seized the Assyrian throne during a civil war and killed the royal family. He made sweeping changes to the Assyrian government, considerably improving its efficiency and security. Assyrian forces became a standing army. Tiglath-Pileser III subjected Babylonia to tribute, severely punished Urartu (Armenia), and defeated the Medes and the Hittites. He reconquered Syria (destroying Damascus) and the Mediterranean seaports of Phoenicia. Tiglath-Pileser III also occupied Philistia and Israel. Later in his reign, Tiglath-Pileser III assumed total control of Babylonia.
