Thank you for the post.
Actually, the situation is that I do agree with Calvin's stance on God's sovereignty.
In that aspect, he contributed much to the understanding of Scripture.
Where Dippon on and I differ is the life that Calvin lead and the example he established.
Back to the thread, I do not really think that anyone disagrees that much.
It has to do with the definition of the word miracle.
I look at it that everything there is came out of nothing, and only God could have brought this universe and life into being.
To me that is a miracle.
Now, if you think a miracle as being that is something out of the ordinary that we observe in everyday life, then yes, breathing air or a child being born is not a miracle.
What is an example of an event you would consider a miracle?
Oh, he has said much more about Calvin than those seven references (and notice I included most of the ones from this year). I was just pointing out how much the guy is obsessed with the man from Geneva.
It would be a miracle if he did not reference the man at all like he promised several times in the past.
Dispite the fact that you have often called him an idiot, dolt and various other choice terms?
On the subject of Calvin you have said:
S/N :"This is one of those things I need to let go...Things like this can eat a person up." 12/7/12
S/N :"I should not have commented on the character of John Calvin...It is one of those issues that I tend to get carried away with." 8/12/12
You don't seem able to comprehend the question.
Let me simplify it even more so it will be on your level.
How... Ok got that part?
How does... See the question is about how something DOES something, right?
Got it so far?
How does the Holy Spirit give assurance?
Is it by giving you some emotional feeling?
Here's a hint for you- just say yes to that question because whether you are able to parse it out or not, that's what you are saying.
I'll stop there for now.
You'll be overwhelmed if we go any deeper.
Nice condescending attitude you got there Rick. I can now well understand why you get popped in the face. I would most sincerely ask that you cut that out if its your desire to represent Christ.
If he really is the Lord's, he will learn. He thinks his faith is strong. Wait till God introduces him to real doubt, and what is required to conquer it.
