My dad used to say, "Can't never could do anything."

"You can't get sap out of a hoe handle."

    "Success is a four-letter word....WORK."

"Behind every successful man is a surprised mother-in-law."

    David,

Yours reminds me of one that hangs in my kitchen:

"Dear lord, please put your arm around my shoulders, and your hand over my mouth."

    Shannon L,

I woman I had tremendous respect for used to have a sign up that said:

It is quicker to slow down and do it right the first time, than it is to go back and correct the mistakes you made rushing through it.

I don't know who originally said this but it makes perfect sense to me....."The only thing we learn from history is that most people NEVER learn from history"

But my all time favorite was what missionary Jim Elliot said...."It is no loss to give up that which you can't keep to gain that which you can't lose."

Favorite for many who are KJVO advocates:

"If it ain't broke don't fix it"

I've seen that on the same sites as the little cartoon dude is running from the flaming NIV.

    I'm KJ preferred.

I heard Charles Stanley say this and I liked it---"Do what is right, let the chips fall where they may; the chips belong to God."

Here is another---"He's a lost as a goose in high grass"

Then finally look at my signature for my favorite quote...

My Grandmother used to have a favorite when something out of the ordinary took place:

    "That's a devil of a note!"

Any idea where it may have originated?

While trying to teach my daughter not to be greedy I tell her at the supper table...
Take what you want, but eat all you take.

    From Pastor David Innes:
    • There is no such thing as luck, chance, or fortune only the Providence of an omnipotent God.
    • The Providence of God is always good.
From Dr. B. Myron Cedarholm, late President of Maranatha Baptist Bible College:
    • (to the ushers crew before a "public" meeting) Well, amen, there boys. Don't forget a row when you're takeing up the offering. You never know who is going to drop a thousand dollar check in the bucket.
This from an unknown teacher of Baptist polity:
    • Where two or three are gathered together, take an offering.

I don't know the source of these:

"Whenever God speaks to you, it does not necessarily commit me to anything"

"It is almost always better to keep your mouth shut in any given conversation"

"A text out of context is a pretext to a prooftext"

"Lack of planning on your part does not necessarily constitute an emergency on my part"

"One of the best indications of your character (or lack thereof) is how you treat people that can do absolutely nothing for you"

    peace to you:praying:
