    Thanks, guys! As a famous conservative talk show radio host says once in a while......

    "Prove absurdity by being absurd!"

    That is, for those of you-- like Herald-- who don't "get it", KJV-onlyism is absurd.

    I thought it was funny too..... :D

    Use the Complete Jewish Bible (CJB) for wonderful and inspiring reading.

    Use the KJV Scofield for study and memorization. My pastor in the 50's stressed the ASV1901, but I thought it stilted and wooden (just like the New ASV today).

    Use the NKJV for preaching and the NIV for all public reading, since my church is predominately NIV.

    WHAT A JOY to have a plethora of English translations of God's Word at my right hand!

    I think I like Dr. Griffin's church (Calvinist & Baptist-- an excellent combination! ) & his choice of bibles he uses......
    Although the NASB (that's New American Standard BIBLE).... ahem.... is a bit wooden, it is my absolute favorite! NIV is good, but I personally like my English translations to be a little more literal. Did I ever mention the Amplified Bible-- that's a really good translation too. [​IMG] [​IMG]

    1. KJV. This is my favorite for personal study, reading, just about everything.

    2. Geneva. I'm really liking some of the renderings. Very easy to understand, me thinks!

    3. NIV. I was saved while reading the NIV, so I can't say too much bad about it. Also, I memorized a number of verses in the NIV when I was a kid. You should hear me try to quote John 3:16 sometimes or Proverbs 3:5-6. It's funny.

    My favorite translation is the NIV. I especially enjoy the NIV Study Bible. I like the notes and the references and use them for study. However, I just bought a NIV Thinline Large Print bible. I like it because it does not have any references or notes, which is good when I am just reading the Word, and the print is easier for reading. My eyes ain't what they used to be. :eek: [​IMG]

    My favorite bible is "The Javascript Bible, 4th Edition". I'd be lost in my line of work without it.


    Oh, wait!!! You mean, scriptural bible? Oh, that would be the NKJV and NIV. I go back and forth on which I like best. But I also reference the TR every once in a while, as well.
