Flu, delta varient

    Anyone know what happened to the flu or delta varient? I havent heard.

    Omicron killed them.

    Yes. The flu has not stopped but obviously cases have decreased with covid precautions in place.

    Most of the new covid cases in the US (99%) are the Delta varient. The omicron varient has showed up but so far has not overtaken the Delta varient. In the US the concern is that the omicron varient spreads quicker than previous varients but this is tempered by the hope it may be less dangerous.

    Africa reported severe cases of omicron but only in the unvaccinated. The UK has reported several hospitalizations and one death, but as far as I know they have not released vaccination status.

    So, again (to specifically answer your question) nothing happened to the flu but cases decreased as people took precautions against covid. There have been approximately 818,939 flu cases. 99% of new covid cases have been the Delta varient.
