It has been 41 years since the seven black robed men of the US Supreme Court pronounced the death sentence on the most innocent of humans, Since that time over 55 million unborn babies have been slaughtered for the convenience of the woman and the profit of the abortionist; an average of more than 3600 babies each day!.
In 2012 the horror of abortion was celebrated at the democrat national convention which renominated the most rabid abortion advocate in public life, Barak Hussein Obama. Last year this horror was amplified in the trial of one Kermit Gosnell, a Philadelphia abortionist.
There are some on this Forum who support abortion because they support the party of death, the democrat party. They will insist otherwise!
Some may think this belongs on the Politics Forum, but the slaughter of unborn children is a religious and moral issue. Too many professing Christians have remained mute for 41 years either because they approve or simply don't care.

I am appalled at the level of abortion in our country and world. I don't see how it could be anything other than morally wrong. However, living in a pluralistic and not a theocratic social order, I must force myself to settle for some things I find detestable. I, if I could make the rules, permit abortion only in cases of rape, incest and life of mother. I also think, our federal government has "usurped" WAY too much power over the states. Issues (hot button) like abortion should be left to each state. Abortion as a means of birth control, or birth selection and especially late term procedures should be illegal in my opinion.

I voted: a woman has a right over her body
BUT she has no MORAL right over the body of her soon to be born child.
When someone gives me that silly EXCUSE about a right over her body -
I state - I AM SO GLAD YOU ARE AGAINST THE SEAT BELT LAW!!! -

At this point in time 32 people have viewed this thread but only 6 have voted in the poll. This demonstrates what I said in the OP:

But over all - you are correct - it is sad -
When you remain silent - you have spoken -

One visitor has no problem with abortion. Frankly I do not understand how a "follower of Jesus Christ" can tolerate the slaughter of 55,000,000+ and increasing by ~3,600 each day! But then I do not understand why so many will not express their belief about this needless slaughter. -
My wife and I are the parents of three children. Two are adopted, the last in 1969 only 4 years before Roe v Wade. Each of our children have given us two wonderful grandchildren who have made growing old not only bearable but a pleasure. It is a sad fact that after that terrible decision by 7 black robed men adoption has been difficult if not impossible.
This past Sunday, at the age of almost 83, I held my first Great Grandchild, a little girl, only 12 hours old. I looked at her, with tears in my eyes, and wondered how anyone, especially a professing Christian, could condone the slaughter of these babies. But they do and some denominations have strongly endorsed abortion just as they have the homosexual life style.
The Roman Catholic Communion gets a lot of grief on this Forum but they have taken a strong stand from the beginning against abortion, though many RCC politicians are rabid abortion supporters. The development of a pro life stance in the SBC developed slowly:

134 people have viewed the thread yet only 17 have voted in the poll. That is very sad and I believe typifies the view of many professing Christians. They simply don't care.
Havensdad has a new thread: New Documentary: Babies are Murdered Here. It is murder folks. Actually murder is not adequate to describe the late term abortions. Slaughter is more descriptive and correct. If animals were treated this way people would be up in arms! It is very sad! Take a look "brothers and sisters" and the person who has no problem with abortion!

I challenge any Christian on this Forum to examine the Grand Jury report on the abortionist Gosnell, identified in the OP.

The child is still a child and had absolutely nothing to do with their conception. Also it is a medical fact that it is extremely rare for a mother's life to be endangered by pregnancy these days. However, I do appreciate very much quantumfaith's response. He and I often disagree but he always responds as a gentle Christian, something I do not always do.
Sadly most on this "Baptist" Forum will not even participate in the poll -

Abortion is just legalized murder, although I think it should be legal ONLY in the case of rape and if the woman's life could be lost if she carries the baby to term.
-
IF roe v wade was ever overturned by SC, would NOT eliminate abortion, but would have the issue decided by each state! -
Rape is a horrible thing. But why is it not murder to abort a baby whose mother was raped?
