In doing alot of research on the subject, I have found that everything I thought to be true about our history and our religions freedoms in this country aren't what the seem. Just who exactly is the founding fathers of America, what was their intentions and where does true Christianity fit in?

Where did you start and where did you end up?
I know for a fact that what was in the history books when I went to school has changed drastically now that my kids are in high school. The truth hasn't changed - just the telling of it.
Are you looking into any OLD documentation? Books written 40, 50, 100 years ago? Written work of the framers themselves? -
Jul,
Do you think that a book written 40 years ago about events 200 years ago has more credibility than a book written nowadays?
Credibility aside, it is interesting to see how interpretations change. One library I went to a long time ago had a set of Encyclopedia Britannica from 1901. Attitudes towards other cultures has changed quite a bit. It would be cool to read now, if I knew where to find it (it was a looong time ago). -
While there are excellent end enjoyable histories of the Founding period, anyone studying the period with a hope of understanding it should balance histories with reading the Founders themselves. Those searching for histories should also be careful of the authors. While I agree with most of his arguments and the purpose for which he writes, I will be very hesitant before reading anything by David Barton from now on, given his poor scholarship at best, and deceit at worst, in his citations.
