Anyone here use fountain pens? If so, what pen/pens and what ink/inks?

Also interested in what paper other FP users use.

Not for years. I use a Parker ballpoint on the rare occasions that I write, otherwise I use the computer,

I love fountain pens, but I have an awful habit of losing them.

My favorite right now is a Cross Aventura, but I dare not carry around because I'll lose it.

I have a Parker metal pen from China that writes well, although it was encased in a plastic film that has peeled off and isn't much to look at.

I had some serviceable and cheap plastic Parkers that I bought on ebay, but I've either lost of damaged them. A shame; they were really good pens for the price.

I have a couple of Parkers from India, but the quality leaves a lot to be desired. The nibs are OK, but the plastic parts don't fit well and are prone to leakage.

I use an ink from Hobby Lobby, which is about the only place in town to buy bulk ink anymore.

If I had a fountain, I probably would put a pen around it.

If you’re dead set on one, I’d recommend Montblanc Meisterstuck. As far as the ink goes, I used the cartridges. I’ve heard some of the Cross Townsend pens are good as well.

That said, when I used a fountain pen it was me being a bit eclectic. It is like choosing a horse over a car because you like the sound. I like fountain pens OK, but when I get in a hurry I tend to snag the tip. I guess I don't have the talent to use fountain pens. My next pen “investment” is going to be a ball point.

Personally, I use a Pilot Metropolitan. Been using a Fountain Pen for about a year on the recommendation of, just about every theologian I have great respect for lol.

A long time ago, I tried fountain pens. Now the only fountain pen I use is a virtual one in goodnotes 4.

Nah, for me there is still something about an actual nib on a page. Just like there is still something about a physical Bible in the hands.

Yes, but I can erase mine, which is very helpful because I make lots of mistakes. I use pencils with a physical bible.

I never write in my physical Bibles. I put everything in notebooks and my Bible Software.

I'll never forget the 8th grade where the teacher mandated we all use them. The great penmanship she desired from us using these pens was never achieved, but there sure was one heck of a mess!

That would be nice, but I think I'll make my house payment instead.

The only Pilot I've ever used was a disposable, but it wrote well. The price of the Metropolitan isn't bad, similar to that of a Cross Bailey or Freemont.

My job requires a lot of note taking, and I found that a fountain pen was much less fatiguing than a ballpoint pen.

We must have a different definition of "aren't that bad."

Seeing how a clip goes for $20 on ebay.

Yes. I usually one of my Parker "51"s. I grade papers using a Lamy Safari. And I have a nice Pelikan M600 in burgundy.

I HIGHLY recommend Waterman inks. Diamine is usually good. Sheaffer is good as well. Generally, I recommend using ink that is made by a pen manufacturer as it is usually safer. Some brands of ink will eat parts of your pen.

Also, for paper, I use Rhodia. It's the best commercially available paper I've found to use.

    Blessings,

    The Archangel
