Happens all the time. A robbery goes bad and the bad guy gets spooked and runs away.
It does? Anyway, nothing indicates a robbery was attempted against Mr. RIch.
It's not like you are dealing with criminal masterminds when you are talking about street robbery.
Again attempted "robbery" was simply a suggestion implied by the Police, to appease reporters who want answers before an investigation is commenced.
The part of the "investigation" that would have been conducted, "immediately", would have been, and was, is the contents on his person.....AND that the cause of his injury was gun shot....AND the "casings" from the gun at the scene.
AND, what was reported?
The scene location.
He was shot (according to a report I read, was shot twice in the back).
His personal items, specifically identified, were on his person.
He died because of the gun-shots administered to him.
Later reported according to Mr. Rich's father, who had a conversation with Mr. Rich's girlfriend;
Just before Mr. Rich was shot, he was on the phone with his girlfriend, as he was walking home, in the early hours of the AM. (approx 4:15 AM).
Mr. Rich said to his girlfriend, "I gotta go", and ended the call to her.
IMHO ~ from experience and observation in different situations...."I gotta go", is a common phrase when one is on the phone and being approached by someone they know or recognize and are going to talk to.
IMHO ~ from experience and observation in different situations.... A person on the phone being approached in the middle of the wee hours in darkness, would be more alarmed and convey that to the person they are speaking to on the phone, which is not the case in this case.
Additionally ~ An immediate piece of evidence would be the "bullet casings" recovered at the scene.
NO MENTION of such, that I have seen in ANY public report.
So, what comes to my mind is: Seriously? An attempted "robber", shoots a man twice in the back, is oops, spooked and runs off, taking nothing of value off the man.....but yet has time to look around in the dark and find somewhere in the grass, sidewalk, street curb or on the man.....bullet casings, and retrieve them?
Uh, no.
