I do not believe that people are born homosexuals. Homosexual behavior is a conscious choice one makes. The Bible says that it is a grievously sinful behavior. I'll have to stick with what the Bible says.
However, with that being said, I believe that Christians, sometimes in our bent on condemning the behavior, forget what a horribly strong pull this particular sin has on people.
All of us, as humans, are sexual creatures. And we are "aware" of ourself and how our bodies feel at a very, very early age. I don't think I need to explain that any further.
My point is this. Some gay people claim that they "knew as a child that they were gay." I believe them. Not that they were predestined to be gay, but I believe that they were attacked by the lies of satan about their bodies and feelings and emotions at a young age.
I have taught a handful of children in elementary schools who displayed homosexual tendencies. No, I am not talking about tomboy girls or unathletic boys. I am talking about children who actually and disturbingly appear to be homosexual in the first, second, or third grade. They don't bother any other children nor do most of the other children notice anything "different" about them. But we as a faculty notice it. It's strikingly obvious.
There are about 5 adults in their mid to late 20's that are practicing homosexuals today that I taught years ago and highly suspected it when they were small.
My principal (a Christian woman at the time) called a mother in for a conference once when her 6th grade daughter showed signs of being gay. We made the decision that someone needed to talk with the mother about what was so obvious to us. The mother didn't want to talk about it with the principal and acted like she thought it was a funny little quirk. She and our Godly principal had several conferences about it, but the mother just never would face it realistically. It was too hard for her.
Sadly it wasn't a quirk. She is an adult homosexual today.
I think that the next time we discuss what sinners homosexuals are and how they are all an abomination to God, we should stop and pray for these people.
Sex, in any form, moral or otherwise, has a strong hold on people. I think we all know that.
It's a basic need and a fleshly need. It consumes more people in more ways than any other need we have with the possible exception of food.
And immoral sexual behavior, such as homosexuality, pornography, and adultry, are not sins that can be conquered easily. You have a combination of a legimate and powerful need that all people feel and a satanic attack of illegimate comfort and that is a deadly combination. Deadly to the soul.
Homosexuality is a sin. A choice to be made. And it can definitely be overcome. People can be redeemed from homosexual behavior.
Let's just don't forget that while the issue is cut and dry, the horrible pull of satan on these people's lives is nothing to scoff at.
They need our prayers more than they need our discussion of them and evaluation of their behavior.
Peace-
YSIC

Another poll that I can't answer because it doesn't give me a choice of "I don't know".
I agree with Scarlett, but I don't have any first hand knowledge of what causes a person to commit this sin. -
I do believe that some men might be born with a tendency to behave in a manner that most in society would consider to be feminine (they way the talk, over active emotions, they way they walk, etc...). That, in and of itself, does not, however, make them born gay. Homosexuality is a decision that each person makes to live in sin. IOW, feminine tendencies and behavior does not = homosexuality. I do think a lot of guys who have these feminine tendencies are sort of pushed into a homosexual lifestyle because of the way society percieves what is masculine and what is feminine. IMO, those who do not have very masculine voices as we percieve masculinity do tend to be shunned by those of us who are real men :D and embraced by those who have embraced homosexuality.
Thoughts? Comments? What say you?

We're all born with certain predispositions to commit certain sins.
Some oof us struggle our entire lives with over-eating. Some do not.
Some people struggle with alcoholism. Some do not.
Some people struggle with sex addiction in general, whether with the opposite sex or a different sex. Some do not.
Ultimately, the choice is ours whether we indulge in those sins that would most please our Adam-nature, whatever that sin or sins may be.
My problem has always been over eating. My grandfather's was alcoholism. My brother's has been several different things.
Bottom line, God makes us a particular way, and we somtimes want to change that way based on our urges.
Should every skinny person who likes to eat be fat?
Should someone who likes to drink want to become an alcoholic?
Should someone who thinks their same sex is attractice strive to become gay?
The answer to all of these questions should be "no".
My answer, "People are born either male or female no confusion", although I would qualify that by saying that they have no more confusion than anyone else struggling with some deep-seated desire to sin. -
Amen, Bro. James!! I totally agree with you. I also agree with Scarlett. We must pray for these folks and look at them with compassion.

This guy has a few answers from the testimony of what God has done in his life!

If people are 'born gay' then God is the author and creator of evil, unless medical science can prove that exposure to chemicals or toxins cause the miswiring of the part of the brain that determines sexuality.
I DID read years ago that 'homosexual males' tend to be the last child of older mothers and the study wondered if the break down and quality of the mother's eggs might cause birthing a homosexual.

Why did you ask a question about "gay" people. Gay means to be happy. I think you are refering to homosexuals. Please do not comform to L.E.F.T. (Liberal Education For Terminology

God's righteous judgement may well be viewed by man as "evil". This does not, in anyway say that God goes against His Holy nature by being a partaker in what God calls evil.
I hope that is what you meant in your post. -
What do you mean by your post, that God needs to "repent of the evil" He thought to do?
-
He didn't say God needs to repent. He quoted scripture that says:
"If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do to them." Jer. 18:8
if that nation against whom I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I thought to bring upon it. NKJV
but if that nation, concerning which I have spoken, turns from its evil, I will change my mind about the disaster that I intended to bring on it. NRS
if that nation against which I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent concerning the calamity I planned to bring on it. NASV -

I recently wrote a book on the biological search for the origins of homosexuality. In its final chapter, I described some rather amazing work being done at two biotech companies: The first is trying to manufacture a computer chip out of human DNA to tell you what genes you have, while the second is creating artificial viruses that can send new genetic material into your cells. The chapter is titled, "How Genetic Surgery Can Change Homosexuality to Heterosexuality," and the other week I received the following letter about it from a 38-yr-old lawyer.
"Do you know of any research institutions that are currently studying the possibility of converting homosexual men to heterosexuality?" the lawyer asked. "I would be very interested in making such a change. I am gay, and for personal reasons would like not to be. My thoughts on this don"t come from a religious perspective, and I don't believe homosexuality is something to be ashamed of. I have gay friends, and I have been out to my family for 18 years. I'm happy in many aspects of my life, but for a variety of reasons homosexuality is not for me--I never entertained the hope of changing since everything I have read about changing through traditional psychotherapy suggests the chances are slim to none. I've always experienced my homosexuality as immutable--something deeply a part of me. But your book was the first thing I've read which gave me hope".
"I would travel just about anywhere, and would volunteer for 'guinea pig' status, assuming a sane level of risk. If you don't know of anyone currently doing research, how might I best keep myself informed of continuing developments? Frankly, I would like to be the first on line the minute some form of treatment becomes available."
Rapid advances in genetic research and biotechnology may well make it possible to take what the lawyer describes as "immutable" and change it. If these two biotech companies are successful, the lawyer might find himself in a doctor's office within a decade or two. The doctor will have a syringe loaded with millions of engineered viruses. He will inject them into the lawyer's bloodstream and send him home. And one morning, maybe six months later, the lawyer will wake up--and his internal orientation, his instinctive romantic and sexual attraction, will be heterosexual.

The rest can be read at above link but the above
really reflects a hope for the gay person and
people would be totally on board with genetic
therapy for the gay person because I think alot
of them are out there who feel trapped and want
a cure.

for me personally I used to follow the company
line on gays..until I actually had to work with
them and asked God to reveal truth to me about
them ..I believe by listening to them ..watching
them in there manor...opening my heart with
compassion ..they are born gay. If it is genetic
Praise God..hope is on the way and the holy
spirit will help them through genetic therapy.
imho

Sorry,
But you, Kristol, and Barnes are wrong here.

My son's brother inlaw is gay, he is the oldest of two children, and his mother was22 when he was born. But he also blames his mother for him being gay, so he recognizes there is something wrong with it.
Homosexuality is a sin, how anyone can not read the bible and recognize it as such I don't know. When you mix the world with scripture you always get acceptance of sin. -
article written under the auspices of the

its a legit article by the weekly standard

Yes, thank you Diane. God never changes. What does change is man. When God, through Jonah, pronounced that in but three days, Ninevah will be overthrown, did He mean it? He certainly did!
But it wasn't destroyed. What changed? The Ninevahites! They repented and turned to God.
God's wrath abided on all of us, but no more.
What changed? We did. We came to God in repentence, trusting in the finished work of Christ on the Cross. Because of this there is "therefore now no condemnation" for us.
God is "faithful and just" to forgive when we turn to Him.
God can therefore rightly "repent" or "relent" of what He proposed to do previously. "Repent" is the King James word and, I can see that one can get hung up on that. But what is it to repent? Change ones mind: 180 degrees about.
God no longer sees us as vile sinners, worthy of His judgement, but accepts us as sons. That is indeed a 180 degree different view of us!
