Hi sag38

Thanks for your input.

But somehow the last word in your post was missing, could it have been, “intellectual”?

In all seriousness, I praise the Lord for the great victory He has given me over being concerned about what anybody thinks about me.........
Galatians 1:10
“For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.”

Would someone please explain what a Holy God has to do with the corrupt people we elect to office? (or if new, will become corrupt shortly)? It amazes me that anyone would equate the Lord within any distance of the degenerate state our political institutions have become. If you think it is not rampant on this board, go to the political section, and observe by direct quote or inference that either Democrats or Republicans are more "godly."

The title of my OP might be misleading, but in my OP(take a look at it), I make the point, that the Scripture being quoted, seems to not be in support, of today’s tea party, because it’s placing non-political people, in positions of leadership.

Hello rbell

You asked.......
“So, what kind of person should be placed in positions of leadership?”
I wouldn’t know; but the Scripture says, that...”a servant when he reigneth”, is disquieting.

So it’s possible, that it’s wise, to put people suited as leaders, in positions of leadership.

Pretty vague stuff there.

What do you mean when you say "non-political people" shouldn't be in positions of leadership?

Just trying to figure out your position.

I did misread it. A case could be made for your point, but from a Christian perspective, you would have to find a "political leader" who is honest half the time and only steals from us half the time. Lots of luck with that. You are correct. The two points are not related. Very few things press my hot button more that equating one of the two parties in power now with the Lord, Scripture, or anything spiritual.

But SL, you are still twisting the meaning of this verse. When this passage talks about a servant when he reigneth it is talking about a servant who lacks the instruction of his master, it is the master and lord here who have failed. What disquiets the earth in Proverbs 30:22 is the servant who does not do what he is supposed to do and the fool who gets fed even though he has not worked. The condemnation is not on democratic government, but on a socialist system that coddles the weak and lazy. Read the entire passage.

Your theory that some people are not “meant for” positions of leadership flies in the face of the “Servant Leader” principle taught in many passages including:

Matt 20
[25] But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them.
[26] But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;
[27] And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:
[28] Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

Matt 23
[11] But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.
[12] And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.

Matt 24
[45] Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
[46] Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
[47] Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.

Not to mention, we need to be careful. David wasn't "qualified" for king-ship. Gideon was a big chicken and not particularly stellar in his leadership abilities. Scores of other examples abound.
