I do too. That's a shame.mcdirector said:...for the most part, I like NPR.

I am more upset by your disdain for the free flow of information and ideas that comes from media outlets like NPR. Free speech functions best when ideas are forced to stand or fall on their own. I appreciate the NPR talk shows that usually bring several opposing viewpoints to bear on the issue at hand. I like to care with which stories are dealt with. Some of them will break your heart. One of the segments I used to listen to "religiously" was Bob Edwards' weekly conversation with Red Barber. One week their topic was a college basketball player who had died during a game. Red responded by quoting scripture on the frailty of humanity (I'm afraid I can't remember the passage).
Unfortunately, when you have your mind made up so tightly, any views in conflict with your own cannot merely be disagreed with, they must be "destroyed" by the designation Liberal. It's the same old story. :BangHead:

Very well said. Might I add, not only is "liberal" used as an invective, but toss in terms like Marxist, Communist, etc. that make rational debate impossible. People can't just disagree, they must go full bore with the most absurd an hateful things they can come up with rather than debate the issues. It is sad, because you can actually learn a lot from just considering the other side's points if they are articulated. If one lives in a sheltered bubble, never hearing a differing view, their own views are never challenged. Challenges strengthen truth. It is only ideas that have little actual support that need to supress conflicting ideas. If I hear a divergent view, I may see it has some merit or not. If nothing else, it let's me better understand other human beings with whom I share the planet.Timsings said:Others have referred to your callousness over these folks losing their jobs.
