'Oy Mate! The granny would choose her 66-caliber big gun, the KJBible; which, by the way, is also my Sword!

A gun is no use without the ammunition... They can vote how they want I will vote for the Bible it is always fully loaded and you never have to reload or buy more ammunition... The bullets are free and they hit the bullseye everytime and never fail!... Brother Glen

That's a loaded question (no pun intended).
Naturally the vast majority of us here would vote for the Bible, but the men who wrote the Constitution believed that there was no guarantee of religious freedom without an armed populace.
So, the big question is, would it be possible to choose the Bible in the first place without guns?

Smoke Eater is right! What would keep someone from taking away my Bible if I gave up my gun? Nope, you're not getting either of them!  ;)

30,000 people were killed last year in the USA because of guns.according to my radio station.
What does that tell you,and people still think if you had more guns you would have less deaths.
sorry does not make sence.I can hear someone yelling at me,this is not the place to bring this up? wrong wrong wrong taking of any life is is is wrong its its non christian thats what it is non christian.

I am not sure why this is in this forum, so I am moving it to another.

Well as a Christian I would choose the Bible over my gun, easy answer.
At the same time the history of the USA without guns we wouldn't have the freedom to believe if it weren't for our guns. Our ancesters had to flee England to get freedom of religion, get away from persecution. Later They had to fight for their freedom from England. So, had we not had this ability we could very well still be in a forced church state.
For those poor informed, guns don't kill, people do. Cain didn't need a gun, now did he? Murders will use whatever they have. Law abiding people with guns also save lives and prevent crimes. Do I want to take a life? NO! would I if I thought mine or another person's life is in danger? Yes. I would do my best to protect someone else whether I had a gun or not. -
People in countries like China have Bibles and they are not allowed to have guns. The Word of God will go out whether or not governments give their people the right to bear arms as long as we, Gods people, do our job.

I also agree with SmokeEater. The Constitution was written in it's entirety for a reason. If we lose one of our constitutional rights, it is just a slippery slope away from losing them all. If the ACLU spent as much time defending our right to bear arms as much as our freedom of speech, we would not even be looking at this question.
I read a bumper sticker the other day that said "600,000,000 gun owners killed no one yesterday". Now of course I don't know how many legal gun owners there are in America, but that seems reasonable.
I'm going to change the subject just a bit here. Look at the debate over concealed carry permits. Primarily a Democrat Vs. Republican thing. Some people don't want any more guns on the street, they say it will cause more crime. In the states that have a CCP the violent crime rate has dropped dramaticly. Why? because the crimanals working inviroment just got more dangerous. Ok, I'll get off my soap box now.
Someone mentioned that in China they have bibles. Yes, but they also have an opressive government that considers Christians to be criminals. An offence punishable by death. I do know this because a good friend of my wife spent 3 years there as a "English teacher". I for one would rather keep my Bible and gun.
Some may think the second ammendment is now outdated. Well I think freedom of speach is taken way too far, but I don't want it taken away. If you don't want to own a gun, great, don't. Just don't try to interfear with mine. I think this is the longest post I have ever made on this board, but it is a subject that gets me all riled up. -

Why not ask about choosing between food or heat in the winter? Or how about asking to choose between guns and healthcare? Here's some "statistics" that you can use for that choice.
"Some interesting statistics...
* Number of physicians in the U.S.: 700,000
* Accidental deaths caused by physicians per year: 120,000
* Accidental deaths per physician: 0.171
(Imagine, nearly two deaths per year for every ten doctors.)
* Number of gun owners in the U.S.: 80,000,000
* Number of accidental gun deaths per year (all age groups): 1,500
* Accidental deaths per gun owner: 0.0000188
(Imagine, nearly two deaths per year for every hundred thousand gun owners.
Doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners!
[9095.7446 times]"

BTW, I'm not giving up my Bible, my fire arms, or my doctor - none of them have killed me and each of them have saved me from death. Think on it. -

I saw a bumper sticker the other day that read "Ted Kenedy's car has killed more people than my gun has." I found that ironic and true.
I too know that there are Bibles in China, I know some people that performed Bible drops there. They had to hide them in secrete areas of bags to get them in the country. One girls tracks were found and confiscated. Maybe the China government is afraid if their people get guns, it will be harder to keep the Bibles out. -

For law abiding citizens, guns are used in game hunting and as home defense and most gun deaths are by criminals who will get a gun whether there is a law against them or not. -

A couple of points:
30,000 people killed by guns in a year? Not even close to the numbers I've seen published. Me thinks the 30,000 is an exageration - somebody back 'em up if possible.
Canada has Bibles a plenty and no armed populace - true, but is it truly an unarmed populace? -
Brian, lets look at Canada realistically. No offense, but if your neighbors were ruled my Saddam instead of being the USA you know you would all have guns. Canada is covered by America's umbrella. We are friendly neighbors, if someone attacked you, we would volunteer to help your country fight and they know that.
What about the fact that Canada's olympic target shooters have to live in America because the rifles they use in the olympics are illegal to own. That is sad.
