As you know, that's usually a euphemism for suicide, without saying suicide for the benefit of the family.

I don't know if they are not wanting to say suicide in this case because the man was a pastor, or it this gentleman was so foolish as to point a gun at himself and pull the trigger without checking to see if it was loaded.

In any case, it is tragic.
