And once it comes ashore and dies down some it is forecasted to be a huge rain maker. Using the current forecasted track southern Arkansas will end up on the northeastern side of this storm for around 48 hours and the current forecast is for 10-20 inches of rain.
Here is the National Weather Service forecast discussion for southern Arkansas this afternoon:
"THE OUTLOOK HIGHLIGHTS THE LIKELIHOOD OF WIDESPREAD 10 INCH RAINFALL AMOUNTS
WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF ISOLATED 15 TO 20 INCH AMOUNTS AND THIS
COULD EASILY BE UNDERESTIMATED DEPENDING ON JUST HOW MUCH TIME
OUR REGION REMAINS ON THE EASTERN AND NORTHEASTERN QUADRANT OF THE
STORM...NOT TO MENTION THE POSSIBILITY OF AN EXTENDED TORNADO
THREAT. THEREFORE...WE HAVE A 36 TO 48 HOUR PERIOD OF CATEGORICAL
POPS WITH HEAVY RAIN WORDING AND SEVERE WORDING BEGINNING TUESDAY
AND CONTINUING THROUGH AT LEAST THURSDAY."

Sorry about the all CAPS but that is how they do it on the NWA website. -
Yes,
we are praying and will continue to pray for all those who are part of the process
of evacuating people to safety. Keep the buses running and may we have no
reports of any accidents. -
Lake Charles
My son and his family live in Lake Charles, LA. He and his wife will be evacuating late tonight or early in the morning. My wife and I already have their daughter with us.
They were in Mexico on a mission trip and had to leave early to go back to Lake Charles and secure their house as much as possible.
Pray for their safety as they travel. -
Friends of ours, who are transplants from NO after Katrina, recieved their first evacuated family member today with more to come. Some of their family members had just this summer completed repairs from the damage done by Katrina.
Prays are truely needed. -

Great thread... Praying.. :praying:

This morning in our corporate worship service, we set aside a time for special prayer for the people who will be affected by Gustav.
Our church has what you might say a "vested interest" for these people.
For the last 3 years now we've been sponsoring groups from our church to go to the Gulf Coast to help in rebuilding not only houses destroyed by Katrina, but also the lives that have affected by that hurricane.
It could be that this mission outreach may have to be extended a lot longer than any of us had originally thought. -
My brother in law was displaced by Katrina, and is still in Atlanta instead of going back. His house was destroyed.
My prayers are with everyone there... -
