Ah, so you have to be black or muslim, or homosexual for anything to be a hate crime.
A second thought here is, obamas people want to hang people they disagree with.
Personally I am thankful to be part of the majority of a country that never had to deal with the issues of my family having been slaves and the ongoing persecution and prejudices to follow. Than being part of that minority but having the perks of an extra hate crime law in my favor.
Not much to be jealous of in my opinion.
If Obama had been smart, he would have publically asked the people who put the mannequin there to take it down.
He should have explained how offensive it is to 'lynch' someone, and used this to score points across political lines. He could have used this to his advantage, but he didn't.
Missed opportunity on his part, I think.
I agree, that hanging Palin is absurd. Even if we have no national law we do have moral obligation to the Children who may be walking by. Perhaps it's time to extend civil protections to whites and sexes so they everyone is covered.
What is the real shame is that somebody can openly do this and not be shamed by their neighbors and community into taking it down. It is a sad indictment of the times in which we live.
But then again there'll be people who would say the whole thing was a set up.
That the couple were really told to hang the thing, just in time for Obama to see it, and Obama (told in advance and part of the sham) would stop his motorcade, stride over to where the offensive thing was with indignation on his face, and give his little speech : "please take this down, I appreciate your support, but I have the highest regard for the governor.....yadayadiyada"
Round and round it goes.....obladioblada...
A little thing called the facts kind of punch a hole in your point. They were on campus property not their own. They broke into a house and stole the things used. In the case in California, it was private property and among many other Halloween things hanging from their house. Not that I am defending the low life's that pulled the stunt in Calf., but the two cases are completely different.
Also one more thing. Any reasonable person should be able to see a difference with hanging of a black man in effigy, and a white woman.
The one carries with it some very horrible history, and with it and implied threat. The other just someone making a point in a very horribly despicable
way. But still just a point non the less, and no genuine implied threat
