From Saigon, the last AFVN station to close, LTC Harold Hutchison sends his final message as commander: “AFVN ceased to be as of 2400 hours 22 March, 1973.”
and from Oct 1968
October – an Army clerk becomes a disc jockey for AFVN Saigon. Pat Sajak is on Dawnbuster at 0600 weekdays wishing Vietnam its nowiconic “Gooooood Morning!” Later, as a TV star, he remembers the troops’ gratitude for AFVN’s touch of home: “To this day, my fellow vets from that era repeat those thank yous and it’s really very humbling.” -
