I think we talked this topic out already in the following thread:

I'm opposed to the hate crimes law as a matter of principle, but there's nothing that criminalizes speech. This is just more alarmist right-wing talk.

This post is just left wing defensive mode. -
That said, I oppose hate crimes legislation in general, on principle alone. -

Just fer curiosity, I'd love to know how much of
1 "DISABILITIES" act,
2 "CIVIL RIGHTS" act,
3 "ANY OTHER" act
are administered in the form and practice that was the supposed goal of the legislation???
Can anybody name just one gov't edict (AKA "LAW") that has not been mutilated "technically", modified by some judge, laced with loopholes for the benefit of the elite, or otherwise having the stated intent aborted??
IOW is there any legislation that has been applied as it was supposedly intended, in the true spirit of the law??
I dare say NO!! -
just-want-peace makes a good point, but the very fact that a hearing involves a plaintiff/petitioner and a defendant/respondent guarantees that 50% of the people before a judge will find the ruling to be just and in accordance with the law, and the other 50% will find the ruling to be unjust and a mutilation of the law.

I believe any laws on the books directed at what liberals so fondly call " hate crimes", are unconstitutional and will be proven so when the right case comes along.
-
You might have a point, carpro. What do you think would qualify as such a case? That would be interesting.

Did not the 1st century Christians face the same thing that 21st century Christians faces today, preaching Jesus Christ? Today preaching Salvation through Christ (only way to eternal life) is hate speech and will result in imprisonment and probably death in these United States of America before the mid-century.

The love of the truth is not hate.
The real hate is in those who hate the truth.
Only God can judge the thoughts.
Man can only judge the actions. To try to do more is playing god...... and divides people into privileged sub-sets different from the equality before the law by which constitutional justice is founded. -

I don,t believe there was any such law in the first century other then the charge of Blasphemy. -
What I asked was for you to cite the specific law that currently makes it illegal to preach salvation through Jesus Christ. You had said that preaching Salvation through Christ today will result in imprisonment and probably death in the US. Please cite the specific law which you are referring to.
