In a now closed thread a poster stated that he viewed "Catholics as even more detestable than Arminians." I asked for clarification. I said:"Do you mean their doctrines or their persons?" I was met with distain myself for daring to differentiate.
I think it is important to to distinguish between a system we may abhor vs. a person who holds to a particular system. when one says "I hate Catholics." That tells me the hater is A: too lazy to say Roman Catholicism or B: too carnal and not aware of his own sin.
Making myself clear : I hate no Roman Catholic or Arminians. BTW,most Baptists share Arminianism/semi-Pelagianism with Roman Catholics.
Throwing the 'hate' word around carelessly is repugnant. ;-)
Again your obsessive nature continues to interfere with your ability to comprehend. Has this been a problem for you all your life or has developed gradually as you age?
Again,is it merely a matter of poor English on your part --or do you really detest Roman Catholics more than Arminians? It's an easy question. How about a simple, direct reply that answers the question specifically?
Perhaps EW&F thinks he possesses perfect hatred. After all, Ps. 139:21,22 says :"Do I not hate those who hate you, Lord, and abhor those who are in rebellion against you? I have nothing but hatred for them;I count them my enemies." (NIV)
Is this where you are coming from EW&F? Or is it something else? Clue us in please.
By quoting Matthew 5:37 in this context is absurd. There is nothing about taking an ungodly oath about this conversation. I hope you are not teaching any Bible studies! ;-)
EW&F Matt. 5:37 has absolutely nothing to do with my questions to you. Talk about taking things out of context! Better practice better exegesis. Consult Dr.D.M-L-J -- he'll set you straight.
Focus on the subject of the OP --you follow too many bunny trails. You are evasive and slippery as an eel. Get back on track.
Pick me, pick me!!!! I am a Roman Catholic but not Armenian. How tedious to be a hater, what a waste of effort. Off soon for Tenebrae as part of the lead up to Easter, and all that other RCC stuff.:wavey:
So are you fellas arguing, or enjoying a vigorous debate....it is a little unclear?
Oh right...I remember all that stuff. Up here the Latins will be doing a passion play...they actually carry a guy on a cross through town. Then the Lutherans (a bit more subdued)
will carry a large wooden cross through the town. The Methodists release balloons into the air as a symbol of resurrection and all the Slavic types bring food baskets to church to be blessed. The PC- USA is hosting an Easter Egg hunt for the kiddies and the local RCC will have Stations of the Cross. Last year,
they put a big statue of the risen Jesus up at the alter with some type of water fountain (complete with live goldfish) at the statue's feet. Maybe they were competing with the Methodists!
