When I used to teach 5th/6th grades, I required my students to read and discuss the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence with me.
They had their own copies.
It took several weeks of adding that to our regular history lessons, but I felt it was worth it.
They came away understanding more than many adults do.
Yes, and they are all man's doctrines. From a fleshly perspective, they are probably the best ever written for the benefit of mankind. There is a way that seems right to a man, but is not God's way, this is one of them.
You are correct to say the Bill of Rights is part of the Constitution, but I only separated it for clarity.
Again you are correct about the Declaration.
I think some may not read them due to a misunderstanding of being able to understand them. They are easy to understand and amazingly short to boot. One may think, without ever seeing them, they would be long and drawn out, but to the contrary, they are short and to the point.
The Federalist papers on the other hand are long. I wish I had it in book form, but Wall builders has it on line and easy to get to.
Yes, read and actually studied all but the last one. Civics used to be taught just like readin and writin. Additionally American history used to put much emphasis on the founding of this country.
Oh I've read em alright. And I've preached em here since the day I signed up. One thing I've learned in all that time. People here couldn't care less about the law of the land or the principles this nation was founded on. They don't care about common law. They don't care about liberty. They don't care about truth. Individual liberty??? Fagitabot it! Their brains have been soaked in collectivism for so long now they are in shock that anyone would even consider such a dangerous and radical idea as individual liberty. To most of em here individual liberty equals anarchy and chaos.
They love to lick the hand that feeds them. They love the iron fist, velvet glove or no.
Look long story short, okay?
The people here will justify practically any violation of the law (U.S. constitution) by any "government official" and welcome each and every new tyranny the state can foist upon us with open arms. The only time they would hold an "official's" feet to the fire of accountablity is when said "official" is of the opposing team. And then rarely will they even do that,
but you let a teenager or some tee shirt wearing protester break a city ordinance or question authority and they'll scream bloody murder for him to be pepper sprayed, his citizenship be revoked and he be shipped off to be waterboarded until he confesses to his anti american activities. They think a pothead should be drawn and quatered and his head put on a pike but they'll let our "leaders" get away with mass murder and looting on a global scale.
People here don't give a hoot about those documents. They only see the law as a way to advance their own agenda. Hypocrites.
So why even bother to discuss them here? To discuss such things with such people as we have here today just serves to disgrace the men and women who have honored these laws and principles and fought hard and long and sacrificed all to protect and defend them and it cheapens the documents themselves to be a matter of discussion amongst such people as these.
The constitution is history now. The USA has become a corporate fascist two party dictatorship under the ever watchful eyes of the good people here and they to this day will deny the obvious and denounce anyone who dares even comes close to the whole ugly truth of it all as if that's going change anything. Hypocrites.
As long as we are alive it matters. The masses have never been on the right side.
I would not argue with much of anything with what you say, but it does matter, at least to some of us. As long as there is some light somewhere there is hope. Even God always kept a remnant to start over with.
