Yes Hillclimer, that might happen in that election, but if Mr Magic Christian got all of our support and drew 20% of the national vote you have better believe that one of the major parties would sit up and take notice.
Apart from my very strong convictions about voting to evil, lesser or greater, there is a pragmatic reason for voting third party.
You are right, he might not ever get elected. However, the Republican Party knows that they pretty much have the conservative evangelical vote wrapped up no matter what they do. Therefore, they can throw a few bones and everyone is content.
What would happen if the conservative evangelical vote finally said "ENOUGH!!" you are no longer getting our support unitl you truly return to economic, social, and moral conservatism.
This would be the wake-up call that would be needed. I have more faith in my country than to think that one presidential election would "send us down the tubes." I thought that would happen with Carter, Bush Sr, and Clinton, but we have survived.
Vote right, vote your true conscience, and then leace the results up to God.

I posted a great document about third party voting online back before the 2004 election. I would encourage you to read through it with an open mind, it makes some very valid arguments.

Even if abortion were not an issue, we still have an obligation to only vote for candidates who will uphold their oath to protect and defend the US Constitution. Both of the major party candidates let us know from the beginning they had no intentions of protecting or defending the US Constitution. They both are working to destroy our Constitutional Republic and replace it with a Socialistic Democracy. Those should be reasons enough never to vote for them!
Bush has shown us since he was elected that he has been even more dangerous to our economy and to our Constitution than any Democrat President has been in the past. -
-
But C4K, if we don't support the GOP then a Democrat might when and if they do they might increase the size of the federal government, increase social welfare programs, spend more of the taxpayers hard earned money than ever before in the history of our nation on the government, refuse to protect our borders, work to open our borders even more through NAFTA, CAFTA, FTAA, MEFTA, etc., criticize states that are working to ban abortions, support "civil unions" with full benefits for homosexual couples, work to replace our Constitutional Republic with a Socialistic Democracy, etc.
-
I know, and we sure wouldn't want that from our president, would we?
-
However, the difference between Kerry and Bush was vast. -
But look what we got from Bush as mentioned above:
-
My guess is that if Hillary Clinton gets the 2008 nomination and the republicans run some bush like clone, lots of people will vote third party. Both parties have lost their moral authority and right to lead the American people long ago.

Instead of throwing votes away, work at the grass roots level to force changes. Stem the flow, so to speak, until something can be done.
Until vast changes are made at the local, and then the state, level, changes will not be made at the federal level. -
Maybe I'll go back to voting for the Libertarian Party candidate. I always felt good about my vote when I voted for the Libertarian Party candidate. -

See what Perot did for Clinton. -
It wasn't Perot that helped Clinton win, it was the GOP running the liberal George Bush which caused 12 million or more conservative voters to just stay home. They did the same in 1996 when the GOP ran the liberal Bob Dole. Karl Rove did a good job of getting those conservative to show up in 2000 and 2004 to elect and re-elect GWB. I don't think the GOP will be able to do that again in 2008 after eight years of Bush letting them down.

See what Perot did for Clinton. </font>[/QUOTE]Lets not blame the GOP for their huge swing to the left. Lets not blame the GOP for the election of Clinton.
Lets blame the honest Americans who had the courage to vote their convictions unstead of voting pragmatically. They are an easy target.
Fall in line folks, vote GOP or you are wasting your vote and are to blame if a liberal Dem gets in office.
That makes me think; who is to blame for a liberal GOP being in office? -
OK, I agree that the GOP is running to the left. But they are still loosing the race to the left to these current radical leftists that have taken over the Democratic Party.
In the overall scheme of things, if one believes that the Lords return is far into the future, we can afford to vote our conscience and let the country go socialist, permissive, and exclusive with borders, but if we believe the Lords return is imminent, we should endeavor to preserve as much freedom as possible, which would allow a better climate for evangelism.
A vote for a third party accelerates the downward moral spiral by giving the nation to the radical democrats, who by nature won't be significantly split on any issue. -
2) That statement is false. Just look at what voting for Republicans and Democrats has brought us in the way of an accelerating moral downward spiral as they have increased the power and size of government into Leviathan porportions over the past decades since the beginning of the New Deal.
