What? We shouldn't do that!?

Well, OK maybe a 45 automatic is an overreach, Ruger 22 rimfire revolver would be better.
More cost effective.

I've never given that scenario a thought.
What does concern me is the possibility of a child coming into the parents' bedroom for a cuddle being shot as a burglar. -

There are many other ways to die of an accident or neglectful situation in America (or any nation).
e.g. in 2013
Fires 3468.
Automobile accidents 32,719.
Accidental or negligent discharge of a firearm 505.
Out of 316,427,395 total population.
Yes 505 is 505 too many.
But the issue is not the number of deaths but the solution.
Should we outlaw matches to stop the deaths due to fires?
Should we outlaw automobiles to stop the deaths due to auto crashes?
Firearms in America are part of our heritage and a legacy because of governmental tyranny.
It will probably NEVER go away due to the second amendment.
Yes there are consequences due to the wisdom of our founding fathers to allow free access of firearms to the general public.
However the second amendment has probably SAVED MORE LIVES than it has caused.

(opps - this is for a different thread) -
Just want peace - There is a big difference between an accident and a collision.
I consider that a very important issue.
I am a driving instructor - and teach accordingly -
OK I can't edit the post anymore, but seeing that you are a moderator go ahead and change it for me.
Collisions or crashes.
:)
Thanks

Never, I hope. -
Still people are yet breaking down the doors (metaphorical speaking) of America to get in.
It seems you are a citizen of Great Britain.
How are/were the infamous fox hunts (when they were allowed) done if firearms are not allowed?
Just curious.
Thanks

Guns aren't involved. -
Is firearm hunting in Great Britain allowed?
HankD -
Bird hunting is still big in the UK. I would love to get in on one of their driven pheasant hunts. Maybe with one of their beautiful Purdey shotguns.

The only time I grabbed a pistol out of the safe was at 3 am when someone was beating on my front door. I grabbed my pistol, then went to my stash and traded it for my m4 and handed the 9 to my wife. I went to the front door with the A R . the lady at the door ran off. I called Sheriffs office. It turns out she was probably the bait to get the door open and two men were with her would bust in behind her and do a home invasion. A neighboring county had had one with exact M.O. a couple nights earlier. Guess they did not feel like tangling with a m4 with a 30 round mag. It would have been the last morning they enjoyed on earth. I was on a string of r off days at the P.D. and had not heard about the home invasion. I was the officer who when I was off, I WAS OFF!!
