I have gone over the above so many times it would make someone's head swim.
First 1 Timothy 2:12 as rendered in the NIV :
"I do not permit a woman to teach or assume authority over a man; she must be quiet."
The NET Bible has a note saying according to BDAG, "this greek verb means 'to assume a stance of independent authority, give orders to, dictate to' In other words tell a man what to do.
John Calvin has the same kind of rendering as the NIV, and you can't convince me he was a feminist. Besides. "I do not permit a woman to teach. She must be quiet. That would be some twisted logic trying to convince someone that the NIV is following the Feminist party line.
Verse 11 in the NIB states :
"A woman should learn in quietness and full submission."
How anyone can make accusations against the NIV when things are stated so clearly means the accusers have an agenda. And yes, it's a wicked one.
The point being made is that in both passages, there is a move from there being no question of male headship and leadership to now it can become a debate!
Wallace says that "no instances of Junias as a man’s name have surfaced to date in Greek literature" and the data do not yield themselves in the direction of regarding the name as masculine, but suggests a feminine name!
Again:
Tell me, Y1, why is "Junias" to be taken as a "man's name", but "Junia" as a "woman's name"?
Again, the point of Dr Wallace was that regardless if the person named there was female or male, they were not seen as being Apostle!
So the Niv chosen way to translate does seemto indicate leaning towards her being one!
These translations are among those that have Junia in Romans 16:7 :
CSB, ISV, NET, CEB, LEB, NLT, ESV, Mounce. Sometimes Y-1, no make that all-too-often, you run around like a chicken with its head cut off.
As I have told you dozens of times before, the NASBU uses the same wording as the NIV. How many times do you have to hear the same thing over and over before it clicks in your mind?
Romans 16:7 New International Version (NIV)
7 Greet Andronicus and Junia, my fellow Jews who have been in prison with me. They are outstanding amonga]">[a] the apostles, and they were in Christ before I was. Romans 16:7 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
7 Greet Andronicus and a]">[a]Junias, my kinsmen and my fellow prisoners, who are outstanding among the apostles, who also b]">[b]were in Christ before me.
How are they saying same thing?
