How many different bibles have you consistently and faithfully used [or carried with you] since you have become a Christian?
I started out with a Revised Standard Version that I found around the house.
Later I used a Revised English Version (I must have lost it a few months later).
I purchased a Four Version Parallel NT (softcover) that I still have somewhere in the garage (KJV, Living, NASB, Amplified ???).
In 1973 I began using the NASB (hardback reference).
In 1975 a friend bought me a genuine leather New Scofield Reference Bible my first and only bible with study notes).
I'd switch back and forth between it and my NASB.
Just a few years ago I started using the English Standard Version.
Total 6 different Bibles.
Sure, I have many more in my library but have never faithfully used them; they are for study and reference.
I’m considering the purchase of a New Revised Standard Version XL [LINK] …nicely formatted and very readable! (without the encumberance of my glasses).

Started out with a NKJV
then went to a KJV
now use a NASB  -
Although I have used othr versions occasionally, the versions I have used/carried most are the KJV, the NASB and the NKJV. Love all three of 'em!

Two
KJV forever and now NKJV -
Started with the KJV, then NKJV, then NIV, and now my favorite of them all the NASB.

The only one with any meaning to me has been the NASB.
I carried a Scofield KJV for years though before I got the NASB.
I was forced to use the NIV when writing for LifeWay, but only used it when I wrote.
I have quite a few on my shelf that I use for comparative study. -

I had one of those. But I used all four of them.
(I was in a Bible reading program for several (8 or so)
years and read a different version each year.
I probably reading the Living Bible most (I was familiar with
the KJV).
I would count that as FOUR BIBLES.
I've started using my Today's Parallel Bible (Zondervan, 2002):
every day and for my Sunday School Class I teach.
It contains the KJV1873 Edition, NIV, Updated NASB,
and NLT (New Living Translation).
So everything in it is an upgrade of the old Parallel Bible I
had before (well maybe not the NIV?).
So I'll be counting that as 4 Bibles - Say, that is eight so
far. I got saved in April 1952 so I've had a chance to
use a lot of Bibles.
I moved twice since my First Wife died. I probablyl
don't have that old Parallel Bible?? -

My Bible Book store had some $3 flat magnifying glass
& book mark. I got one for each of the four paper Bibles
I read the most: HCSB, Today's Parallel Bible (KJV1873 Edition,
Updated NASB, NIV, NLT), KJV1611 Edition, and TNIV.
Especially the Today's Parallel Bible I can't read with
my glasses anymore. The magnifying glass lets me read
longer (and even has a nice straight edge for underlining.
I ain't as coordinated as I once was). -
I started with a KJV and very quickly switched to a paperback Living Bible. After about one year, I received a Revised Standard Version as a gift. This was my Bible for about another year when I purchased an NIV. I read the NIV and upgraded to a NIV study Bible and this was my Bible of choice for over 20 years. Within the last year I've started reading the NKJV as my first to every day Bible.
Of course, like most of you I have a copy of just about every major version available. I have some really nice Bibles and some paperback copies. Why it is that I cannot warm up to versions like the HCSB or the NASB is a mystery to me.
Question: (not to change the subject) Does anyone have thoughts on the Inductive Study Bible? This is the NASV updated text but I'm thinking about trying this method of Bible study and would welcome opinions. -
Was saved by hearing & believing God's word from the NASB, then, was introduced to the NIV, KJV, & NKJV. Began studying older Bibles, such as Tyndale's, "Great Bible", Geneva Bible, Bishop's Bible, original AV1611. Each version, to me, has a special majesty, but the NIV has the least.
I have since studied some of the latest versions such as the HCSB, but I generally use mainly the NKJV & KJV. -
In order, KJV (variety unknown), NASV (NT), ASV, KJV (Old Scofield-1917), KJV (New Scofield- Wide Margin, 1967), MLB, NKJV (Scofield Study Bible).
The one I used the longest was the KJV- New Scofield, until mine was taken from my cab, one night. I had even had it rebound, and it had over 25 years of irreplacable notes in it. Not to mention, I was very familiar with location of many passages on a page, even when not necessarily knowing the exact chapter and verse, and that was very helpful, as well. The Scofield notes in the Scofield Study Bible are similar to the New Scofield, 1967, but the page numbers and type are different, and there is really no comparison for me. But I was not able to find another "Wide Margin 1967", at the time, so took the next best alternative, I found at a combination of price and larger print. I would happily acquire another '1967 Wide Margin' tomorrow, if I could find one, even though I'd have to get a stronger pair of reading glasses.
