A few months back and recently I have made attempts to REASON with a certain Word of Faith church. I spoke to one of the women pastors and the phone conversation did not go well and she was unwilling to look up various scriptures. Honestly I have had better luck dialoging with a certain Hyper Calvinist church in which we both agreed to disagree as brothers in Christ than with the WOF church.
Its statements like these that make me upset.
"empowers people to go after their dreams & how HIS supernatural creative power can be released in every part of life & worship"
"She is a popular conference speaker who releases people to be set free to walk in supernatural power"
I have sought to follow the example of a old pastor I had whom discipled me and often engaged in apologetics with the cults and others. He was not a street preacher nor evangelist, but he was a very gifted apologist and far better than I could ever hope to become. He was a older man that did not use computers much, but he would visit one on one with the cults and such.
Anyways since my reasoning attempts all failed I told the lady pastor (whom also told the church no doubt) I would openly confront their evangelists if I saw them on the streets of Denver as I did once. They do not preach on sin and in my view are preaching another gospel.
I tried to extend grace but they showed to be very proud an so the street evangelist comes in me, and something my former pastor was not. But I have to wonder should I do such a thing with my wife by my side? We plan to go out witnessing together, and the last time I ran into people from that church I was alone and I made it as clear as day that they were false teachers. But I wonder if I should with my wife whom's more compassionate?
Tell the WOF crowd to listen to some Pirate Christian Radio/Fighting For The Faith or better yet John Samson (who is filling in for James White on the Dividing Line).
Samson was a charismatic/WOF person who got out of that mess.
Good point brother as I need to spend more time in prayer for them. But I highly doubt they would listen to a radio broadcast. Does White have a book? Well dumb question they won't read. Do you know of any tracts geared towards WOF types?
Looks like his only book is on the CAL vs. Armin debate which is pointless for this discussion as plenty of good Arminian have discernment on the WOF movement.
He does that. He's posted other threads to the same effect, bragging about how he has called up other churches to tell them they were doctrinally in error.
This is the same man who publicly humiliates his wife on a message board and complains to us about "his financial circumstances" because he refuses to manage his debt.
I manage all my debts and am making payments on all of them. Also I never humiliated my wife I simply asked for advice and got it from certain posters. I never mentioned any names or anything, so stop lying man!
No thats not what I did. I called up to have a conversation and to reason in gentleness and respect (1 Pt 3:15,NIV). But since she did not listen and insisted on preaching her error and leading others astray I got confrontative as Jesus did. Those that love the truth will do this, but those that love the New Tolerance will find it odd.
Evangelist, it is not normal to do the things you've admitted to here.
Neither are your actions godly.
Your behavior and manner strongly indicate two things:
One, a troll getting kicks by causing frustration and irritation among the brethren, or
Two, someone who needs help with a mental problem.
I would recommend you to read and research about aspergers syndrome, as it may help you identify if you have this disorder.
Also, the book How To Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie.
Not in your life would I read that self-help book. Oh and I do not have this disorder nor anything close to it. You do not need to attack people whom have a different opinion than you.
Lots of Christians these days do not want to get involved in spiritual warfare and have embraced privatization and so won't be persecuted. I do not seek persecution but I seek to evangelize souls and engage the false teachers leading people astray.
I know you will take this as an "attack" but never the less you have some judgment and boundary issues. Zeal without good and godly judgment is just as dangerous as any false teacher.
I disagree with you. Good judgment means using discernment as what I did. Nope I am not attacking false churches, nor am I protesting them, nor anything. Just at random times I will feel led by the spirit to engage in a conversation with some just as my former pastor whom discipled me trained me to do. Those that do not wish to talk I let go.
