==I am not sure that is why Leprosy is no longer a major problem today. I think the main reason we don't worry about it is due to the advances of medical science. O, and btw, Leprosy was around during the time of the apostles and it is still very much alive and well in certain area of the world today. The main reason the OT commanded they be isolated was that they were (a) ceremonially unclean and (b) they could make others sick. Those with AIDS are not ceremonially unclean since we no longer live in Old Testament times and they are not as contagious as those who had Leprosy. So nothing in your argument proves your point. Leprosy and AIDS are two very different things.
==The truth, in this case, is that there is no Biblical or social reason to isolate those who suffer from HIV/AIDS. As I said, I would be much more concerned about super flus/colds than AIDS. Everyone of us is more likely to get sick with such super bugs than AIDS.
==Well, since I don't go around kissing people I don't suppose that is a big problem for me. Maybe everyone else walks around kissing people, I don't know, but I don't. Maybe it depends upon what area of the country one lives in? I don't know. Again, unless you are involved in a high risk behavior your chances of being infected with HIV/AIDS is very small.
As for contact with a "open sore", I am not even going to ask how that could happen. Unless you are a paramedic, doctor, or law enforcement officer.

India has leprosy communities. They are very much isolated in India.

I am just going to throw my hands up in disgust with this thread...
First of all, the orgainal poster has stated so many things without any backing about AID's that the thread is completely without merit.
Second, I reported this post as I didn't think it fit into the Baptist Board and thought it went against the rules of this board, but that did no good as the moderator just chimed in without a blink of the eye.. Who is the next step above a moderator when reporting a post?
Third, there are non-Christians on this board and if this is how we want them to see us, then I am in the wrong crowd. As a Christian I think such ideas of isolating people is unheard of in a case where YOU have to do something to get AID's with the exception of blood transfussions. How many kids have died because of this diease?!?
Bottom line is this diease started because man is going against what God wants. Life isn't a box of cherries and blaming one group or the other isn't going to help. As Christians we should be better than this, or at least die trying to be better and above this type of thought process.
This thread services only one purpose to divide and show the world that not all so called Christians are just and merciful in their thinking.
Now, please continue on with your bashing of one group or another.. I for one have had enough! Any responses/questions to me, other than the question I asked about reporting a post will go unanswered in this thread as it serves no purpose.

Jamie, why the tantrum ? Can't you just let other's words stand by themselves ? And what did the moderator say that was wrong ?

Thread Closing Notice
Jamie, this forum is about News and Current events. So, far that is where this thread has stayed. As for non-Christians seeing this thread, both sides of this issue have been taken up here.
This thread has gone fast. As it is on its third page, I am issuing the six hour warning. No Earlier than 1030p EST one of the mods will close this thread. -
Over the last few weeks if not months I have seen people on this board stand up for Racism and other things such as that and now there seems to be a gang of people that want to isolate some less fortunate people that are dying with a diease.
I guess I just blew up because I am angry that such things are allowed to be supported by a Christian board.
I know there are alot of good people here and even in this thread, there have been some good responses and good questions asked (although few answered) and yet to see even a small amount of people that carry such hate and lack of compassion saddens me.
I posted without thinking about my response and just type what was on my mind. I stand by it. I am sadden by it. Christ told us to love our neighbor and yet in this small group of people posting on a weekly basis, one can see where people fail at that simple request.
As far as the moderator goes, I don't want to talk about that in public as I will be emailing an Admin about it.

That's an honest answer and I appreciate it.
From what I read in scripture, Christ would have us caring for the sick, no matter how they got that way. Christ did not seperate lepers, so I don't think we should either. -
AIDS is a death sentence and if you would have read my last post you might know a bit more about it than the liberals want you to know.
I've seen worse on this board. People that actually stand up and try to justify sin, the scriptures are very clear as to what sin is and people still try to justify their sins and the sins of others. -
What appears to be racism in one person's eyes may not be racism in another's eyes. Sure we are to love our enemy, do good to those who despitefully use us, But love does not necessarily mean buddying up to them and learning their ways.
Racism? My niece who is a beautiful young black woman will tell you that racism is nothing but a cover-up. Those who like to throw out the word crying "Foul" are usually crying foul not because of racism, but because of hatred for the person they are calling a racist.
Rev Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are perfect examples of such people who like to throw around the word racist quite often because of their hatred. -
Not true... they could have had contact with another heterosexual that contracted it from a blood transfusion.
Isolation is not the answer. Reach out to them in the name of Christ. He is the Answer! -
Have you seen how many dating sites there are just for people with AIDS?
They are still looking to fulfill the lusts of the flesh. Contracting this deadly disease did nothing to discourage their sinful life. -
