</font>[/QUOTE]Lets see, Faust uses 11 verses of scripture in his article, you used... none. Who's posting unfounded unscriptural drivel? Do you speak for God?

Please, folks, keep on topic here - NEWS about Katrina. We are keeping this thread open beyond the usual 3-page rule because it is an ongoing News Story.

If you want to start a debate as to whether or not it is the judgment of God, please start a new thread on another section of the board, like Other Christian Denominations, etc. Thanks for your cooperation.

Two key U.S. senators said on Friday they will open a bipartisan investigation into what they described as an "immense failure" of the government response to the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Sen. Susan Collins, a Maine Republican who heads the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee, and Sen. Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut, the panel's top Democrat, said they plan to begin an oversight investigation next week when the full Senate returns from a summer recess.

What a waste of money. It will probably turn into fueding, thus wasting money that could be put to better use.

    I don't know, Lorrie,

I kind of want an investigation.
This is the first time in my life that I don't feel like I can trust my government if disaster happens.

    Thank you, webmaster.

I truly hope it can be a bipartisan investigation to find out why our government has failed the people of New Orleans and that all the facts will be brought to light. This failure of letting American citizens and taxpayers be stranded without food and water for six days, surrounded by human waste and decaying bodies and still stranded on bridges and sleeping and dying unsheltered on major highways, baking in the sun and sitting in the rain, and it continues...should never be happening in America. And it still goes on...

I trust both of these senators, as much as I can trust any senator. ( )

I can understand your point of view. It just seems to me that anytime Congress "investigates", it turns negative, quick. :(

I don't know if anyone has posted this yet, but approximately 90,000 square miles have been affected by the hurricane and flood. [IMG]

I just received word from my first cousin who has been in New Orleans since Saturday in preparations for the hurricane and he has been in and at the Superdome and the Civic Center since.

He is with the Louisiana National Guard. I thought that he did his duty for his fellow Louisianians and Americans when his troop did their tour in Afghanistan.

But he has been called out into chaos again...and he went gladly, don't get me wrong.

He finally found a pay phone that miraculously worked and he placed a collect call to his wife this afternoon.

He said that being in the Superdome was a nightmare. She said that his voice was shaky and he seemed about to "lose it" the whole time that he talked to her. She is very worried about him, naturally.

Let me give you a outline of what he said to her this afternoon. This is what he said:

** Initially, on Saturday and Sunday, it was hard to get some of the people to leave their homes. A few of them were hostile.

** 90% of the people inside the Superdome were very nice people. They were all very scared and very nervous.

** It was only about 5%-10% of the people who were acting criminally. Yes, there were rapes...several.

** This morning when the sun came up, there were dead people in front of his truck.

** There were dead people inside the Superdome.

** One frantic woman who lost her child just collapsed at his feet and screamed. He didn't know what to do except yank her up by the shoulders and tell her, "Get up! You can't find him on the floor! Let's look!"

** The odor there (raw sewage, basically) was enough to drive most people mad.

** Most of the Louisiana National Guard are ready to start shooting those behaving dangerously criminal.

** He said that he was able to handle everything there without going crazy except for one thing...dead children.

Please, as you continue to pray for those in New Orleans, don't forget to pray for those in the National Guard who have been there since before the beginning and who are just as mentally and physically exhausted as the citizens of New Orleans that they are helping.

    Peace-
    Scarlett O.

[IMG] There are still 30,000 people in the Convention Center without food or water. The situation is as bad or worse as what is going on in the Super Dome. This is just unbelievable. [IMG]

I ask again, WHO IS IN CHARGE??? [IMG]

I pray diligently for those that are serving their country as well as those effected by this horrible ordeal.

From everything that I have heard, it IS a nightmare for all those involved.
