Thanks for that Jerome, with the world and our lives in turmoil at this time, it still glorious to hear we still belong to the Lord... And I needed a good cry... Beautiful!... Brother Glen:)

Now if I could only sing like that!

Similar thing by quarantined shape note singers.

And let this feeble body fail,
And let it faint or die;
My soul shall quit this mournful vale,
And soar to worlds on high,

Chorus:
And I’ll sing hallelujah,
And you’ll sing hallelujah,
And we’ll all sing hallelujah,
When we arrive at home.

Shall join the disembodied saints,
And find its long-sought rest,
The only bliss for which it pants,
In my Redeemer’s breast.

(Chorus)

Oh what are all my suff’rings here,
If, Lord, Thou count me meet
With that enraptured host t’appear,
And worship at Thy feet!

(Chorus)

Give joy or grief, give ease or pain,
Take life or friends away,
But let me find them all again,
In that eternal day.

Do you have any recommendations for the best sacred harp recordings? I have an old record from the Sacred Harp Singers of Alabama, and it rejuvenates my soul whenever I listen to it.

Brother, first let me link you to a couple of resources:
Recent Recordings of Traditional Singings
Older Recordings (Pre-1977) Reissued on CDs

Here are some I have and like very much:
  • "Desire for Piety: Songs from the B.F. White Sacred Harp."
  • "I Belong to This Band: 85 Years of Sacred Harp Recordings"
  • "In Sweetest Union Join"
  • "Religion Is a Fortune": Sacred Harp Singing - Early 1900s."
  • "The Owen Family: A Heritage of Singing."
Also, a singer here in Texas has made a number of recordings and placed them on YouTube, making a very nice free resource. Here is his page on YouTube:

Hope this helps!

Wonderful, thanks brother. I've thought about going to a SH gathering before, but they are all a few hours away at the least. One of these days :)

You're welcome. I hope you will be able to do so some day. Right now most if not all singings are not meeting because of the coronavirus scare and meeting size recommendations, but we will hope this will be over and we will be singing again soon. If I can help in any way, just let me know. Thanks.

I want to thank you to for the link Brother Robert... That is quite a site and I shall also check some of the singing and the songs, I grew up with and led... I saved the site in my favorites... I guess you could say my singing style is more related to post #5, its the congregation drowning me out that made us sound good... I hope the Lord was listening, as that was who I was singing too... Brother Glen:)

So who can lend me a pitch pipe?:Whistling
