Hypothetically, here is the situation. ;)
Terrorists are attacking everywhere, the US economy has just went down the toilet taking the rest of world's with it, and the violence in the Middle East has escalated out of control. Along comes a man smooth as silk with all the answers. One of his solutions to the violence and terrible economic woes is to set up a world currency and a system that would be able to track everyone person in the world. Everyone likes the idea of peace and prosperity and so he gets the job. His system is put in place. All you have to do is have a painless shot and a microchip will be planted under you skin that will allow you to participate in the economic system and you will never have to worry about crime again.
I know that this poll smacks with an other than rapture end times view but remember this is just ;) hypothetical, so which is the best answer for you?

Take it. I am waiting for the rapture and the mark is a tattoo anyway.
20.8% -
Take it. It won't matter if I do. I am saved and nothing I do can change that.
4.2% -
Wait and see what everyone else in my church is doing.

Don't take it. This sounds dangerously too much like the stuff in the Bible about the antichrist.

With what I know, I'd probably go ahead and get it, as it sounds like a pretty good idea.
And, yes, I am saved. -
I voted NO. It smacks too much of the anti- christ to me!
But, then, I will be gone before the anti-christ comes on the scene... -
Both OSAS and the end times rapture view presented by Lindsey, Lahaye and Jenkins have come under a lot of fire lately. Many believe these are not Biblically accurate.
Knowing this would you still feel confident in
taking this microchip?

One other thing to think about. If you were to be wrong and this "hypothetically" ;) was the mark of the beast then this is what the Bible says will happen to those who receive it.
Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, "If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives [his] mark on his forehead or on his hand, 10 "he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. 11 "And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name." 12 Here is the patience of the saints; here [are] those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. Revelation 14:9-12 NKJV

Tim Too, a very logical scenario, and those blinded by the god of this world will be glad to cooperate, for security, an end to cash, and to support the man of peace who brings a false sense of stability.

The technology for such a security system is in place already. GPS tracking can tell you exactly where you are. If each person had a tracking device planted in their skin that could be identified the possibilities for crime prevention would be endless. For example a woman is assaulted. The authorities would just have to look at the satellite records and see who was around her at the time she was assaulted. If these chips are traceable then where could the criminal hide?
But these implants would not only solve the problem of crime, but could be used for economic purposes as well. No one could steal your identity if it was not conveniently placed under your skin. Also with the development of Radio tags these chips could be used like a debit card, only more conveniently. A person could just walk into the store pick up what he wants and you and the products are scanned deducting the amount from your credits.
Sounds like Buck Rogers, but it is here now. Check the links below.
Your second point has been heatedly debated on this board in a number of places. With all the scriptural evidence argued against Once Saved Always Saved I wouldn't bet my soul on it.

I would not take it. But for political, not religious reasons since I am not a Tim Lehaye Left The Bible Behind premil rapture sensationalist.

Tim, I need more information. Do I have to bow down to this smooth as silk dude before I get his chip?

I think this makes it clear that you would have to take the mark as an act of worship of the beast and his image and not merely take it because you were mistaken or ignorant.
Frankly, I'm not all that worried about it because I won't be here but, if I were, I wouldn't do it. Like someone else said, I wouldn't take it for political reasons, not religious reasons. -

I think the mark will be more of a tattoo of some sort. The whole microchip idea doesn't seem to jive with Revelation.
Anyway, it's not the chip that would tell me, "Hey! This is the antichrist!" It'd probably be the raining down fire from heaven that would quickly clue me in. If the characteristics about the Antichrist that are spelled out in Revelation are not true, then why be worried about a microchip? -
And here's a great site just to show you how many different interpretations one can have regarding what the mark is. It was good reading about 1/3 of the way, then it got crazy. Apparently the mark of the beast is people worshipping on Sundays.
Yeah, I know. I think it's crazy too.
But here it is: http://atschool.eduweb.co.uk/sbs777/prophecy/mob.html -
If I had "listened" to every end times naysayer, I would never have gotten a debit card, or even a cell phone, for that matter.

It's a good thing I use Cingular - they're mark-free! -
Even though the above story sounds fictious, and there is alot of what if's to it. What other responses can we take?
