"I don't follow Calvin" I hope each and everyone here at the BB can say this.

John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

You are right. Calvinist did not start the Baptist church. Does anyone know who "Calvinist" is?

Hmm, Reformed - to be proper English shouldn't you ask "Does anyone know who 'Calvin' is?" or perhaps
Does anyone know what a "Calvinist" is?

Just wondering what you are looking for.

    Thanks

Paul begged the Corinthians believers to follow him.
I Corinthians 4:16 Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me. (KJV)

We are certainly able and should follow those men who are in the faith.
Hebrews 13:7 Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation. (KJV)

All men who claim to be a child of God should live in such a way that others can follow them.
II Thessalonians 3:9 Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us. (KJV)

I Timothy 4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. (KJV)

The key is to follow any man only so far as he follows Christ.
I Corinthians 11:1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. (KJV)

My wife bought me the complete Institutes of Calvin and Hobbes for Christmas one year. I enjoy reading it with my daughter. Her favorite part is the instruction on catching a tiger with a tuna fish sandwich.

Calvin was not the first person who embraced these truths as they can be found embraced by others long before him (e.g. Augustine). I do not like being called a "calvinist" because I think that insults Paul who would not embrace Calvin's catholicism.

The bible is completely sufficient all by itself to defend those truths.

Who argued that He did? Humands damn themselves by their sin. However, I think you should wrestle with Romans 9:19-24

This is not even close to true. Showing your error is not the same as ridicule. Demanding apologies for ad hominem attacks is not bullying. You have not shown errors in Calvinism, rather, you show that you don't understand what Calvinists actually teach (bracing for the ignorant objection) and you falsely represent peoples words and Scripture by ignoring context.

I believe the first three of the five points are solidly grounded in scripture. So I'm not a Calvinist per se. But I study Reformed Theology and the Historic creeds. I use the Logos Reformed package heavily supplemented with 1600s English Baptists writings.

Hank I said Calvinist because I do not follow them. Calvin wasn't the only person to come out of the Catholic faith..I believe Luther came out before Calvin. I wonder why Calvinist don't call then selves Lutherans.

There are more than one Calvinist who refuse to be called Calvinist because I suppose they do not like Calvin. Actually Reformed would be more appropriate. Calvin did not have a good reputation him having been accused of being a tyrant ordering the death of non Calvinist. Personally I wouldn't wish to have his name attached to my faith either. I suppose it may be to late to change it now. His reputation is why many are ashamed I suspose.

How did you get on that topic. I'm talking about vessels of wrath vs vessels of mercy.

Ok, thought you were talking about stuff that happened last week.

Because we don't follow Calvin, we follow Scripture. Besdies, Calvin didn't come up with the doctrines. They were in play over a thousand years before him.

When and why did these doctrines become known as "Calvinism"?
