Good question, which I've asked. I can only answer for myself. If the pledge had never had the words "Under God" added, I would have no problem reciting the pledge today. I can't imagine anyone who would. But some people are not aware that the addition of "under God" is relatively contemporary, having been added in the 50's as a way of combating Soviet communism. Its reference was never intended to recognize a religious establishment or be secterian.

Since "Under God" is now there, it should stay. But if it were never palced there in the first place, it should be of no issue.

YOu will never guess who is behind this video!!!!

    MySpace!... along with Katalyst Media...

Check this out... if it is true...

I found it on another youtube version of it... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqcPA1ysSbw

So I retract my statement that Obama was behind it...
Nothing but liberal Hollywood faux intellectuals promoting their views.

Then the reason it is back in the news is because a principal made the mistake to show it to a captive audience of children, and parents got enraged.

No wonder I like Facebook better... It's probably liberal too, but it just has a better feel about it.

The only celebrity I recognized was Ashton Kutcher because I have watched some of the episodes of the FOX Network show "That 70's Show" on DVD from Netflix.

No. I was just saying that protecting my family comes before protecting my country.

Let's assume that the worst case scenario happens & our nation turns from a Republic to a communist-socialist nation. I would not feel like protecting it very much (mainly the government that runs it). My primary concern would be with protecting the ones I care about. I can't see myself siding with anyone or anything that I strongly disagree with. I would never abandon the USA, I would be committed to putting it back to the way it was.

Or take political parties for example. I believe at one time the Republican Party was the way to go. There are people who are Republicans that are worth voting for. However, you now have these people commonly called neo-cons, that bring their liberal ideas & infect the party, which makes it less effective than it used to be. I'm on board as long as it is heading in the right direction. But when I see danger up ahead, if we don't change course, then I'm quick get off while I still can.

Some day you may find that you can't protect your family unless you protect your country.

    Like, possibly, now.

Someone says, "...to recognize that we are on this planet forever.." With me that doesn't set well, and even with nonbelievers it shouldn't-- whoever is right, 'we' will not be on this planet forever.

I have seen this video before, well, I think it has really alot to do with getting people to accept the first black president.

I am no fan of Obama, I do not like his policies and he is quite aware that he had 47 percent of the registered voters vote against him, so, people are trying to keep the peace, a natural instinct, only not knowing that true peace will come with the return of Jesus.

I pledge to no man, accept my husband, I have pledged my love and dedication to him.

    I Pledge:

I pledge to inspect the change before supporting it.
I pledge to allow Obama a chance to try to change things.
I pledge to allow Obama a chance to fail.

BTW, when I was a Kid The President (Ike Eisenhouer) was president of all Americans. When did 'President' change from someone one you look up unto -- change to someone who is a scrapegoat. (For you NT only folk, the sins of the Jewish People would be put on the scapegoat and the scapegoat would be left out in the wilderness.)

Well, Ed, with the popularization of the Internet and email every person can be his own editorial writer and can post his editorials worldwide in an instance. And also easily spread anyone else's editorials. And no one wants to read a boring editorial. Therefore, scholarly treatment of issues has gone by the wayside and been replaced with words with punch to them. And, we can no longer simply disagree with another person, by and large, but instead anyone who disagrees has to be characterized as basically being the spawn of Satan. And this cuts across all ideological lines.

It's just the way it is and I don't see it ever changing now.

When the current president wants to destroy captalism, and everything your generation fought to advance.

I for one will not give him the chance to destroy the American way... If you want to give him that chance.. then so be it... but my vote will always be against abortion and special rights for homos.. .

Repeating...it's not just about Obama. It's about the people who will use the speech to launch into things that have nothing to do with educating my child. ANd there have been several specific examples of "study guide" questions (now revised, thanks to....public outcry) that I found quite disturbing.

No...George H.W. Bush was wrong on many things. Even Ike was wrong on stuff. But they were statesmen. They could be trusted. Not this guy.

One should never, ever trust a person in public office. They always need to be watched like a hawk. They wield too much power to be trusted.
