ICMP Packets!!!!

    WE recently had to replace the DSL modem and my computer has been doing weird things...

    Like not sending e-mail and not posting to the forum...

    I traced the problem, I think, to my nearly obsolete Sygate personal Firewall blocking inbound ICMP packets...

    That is, when I allow all types of ICMP packets I can send e-mail and post to the forum...

    In a sense this is a test message to see in allowing only 3, 8, and 11 type packets will still allow me to Post to the forum...

    Does anyone here have any 'real' experience with 'Advanced Rules" or ICMP packets?

    Are you using windows XP? If so there is a built in firewall and it has always worked for me.
