I was noticing the news, and I have to wonder if the mayor is thinking clearly.
New Orleans is re-opening

Another storm is headed towards New Orleans
I have lived through a hurricane, and I wonder if the mayor of N.O. is thinking rationally. I think that the USofA should at least have a psych evaluation done on him. -

I think it would be pre-mature to move in if the sewers are not working and if there is no drinking water.

We non-New Orleanenans don't have any right whatsoever to remove the mayor of N.O from office.
Additionally, I don't think the mayoral office has an impeachment process as a presursor to removal. I think they have a recall process, which requires a majority vote of N.O. registers voters. But I could be wrong. -
Impeachment (more likely a recall) by the citizens of NOLA is a good idea if he's not indicted for negligent homicide first.
-
mmm ... then I gotta ask, who is voting to keep him in office ... I know that it was not me ...
-
I did not participate in the poll, since I'm not from N.O.

That's OK, William Barret Travis was actually from Southern Carolina by way of LA (lower alabama), yet he placed his vote ... in Texas ... -
WellllLLLL
Maybe the mayor thought about what he was doing (or read this thread?)

Impeachment of Mayor Nagin is something the people of New Orleans should consider.
He should also be investigated by federal authorities for the violation of the civil rights of residents through the unjustified confiscation of privately owned weapons the citizens were using to protect themselves, their families, and their property. -

to address the original question:
I don't live there so I don't think my vote would count. -
I think the man is just in over his head. This problem will be resolved in the next mayorial election. The people of New Orleans will handle this thierselves.

I don't know, but I think any "tough talk" about rebuilding it is nothing but PRIDE. It is STUPID to rebuild a city below SEA LEVEL that was DESTROYED and basically tempt God. Again, it is just pride to rebuild...and I'm not talking about the good kind of pride.

It would be called racist if NO were not rebuilt lavishly. The Dutch live below sea level. In fact, in order to catch a boat downtown, they have to go up to the third floor. The city of Venice has no sewer, which is their allure. In Pisa, the tower leans. Paris is crawling with Frenchmen.
As for Indianapolis, we are blessed with the worst mayor in the USA--Bart "redneck" Peterson and the worst governor in the USA--Mitch the Knife Daniels, who thinks that Indiana is an eastern state and so is going to have his man George put us on New York city time year around just to show the British that Grenwich is obsolete in Mitch's book. -
Well that would be silly for people to call it racist. I would think it's just being smart and not tempting God...or fate.
LOL I know about Mitch the knife. My girlfriend lives there and thinks he's a moron. So do I. I don't see how switching to eastern time is going to help your economy. I thought an economy was built on resources and manual labour...not what time zone it is in. -

I'll say it again....
It is up to US to elect local leaders who will work to keep people safe, not leaders who promise gays will be able to wed. -
