"...Before the procedure, the woman weighed 133 pounds and her BMI was 26. The BMI of a normal-weighted person ranges from 18.5 to 25. However, after 16 months, she gained 35 lbs, and her BMI reached 33. So, she was diagnosed obese. 3 years on, she weighed 175 lbs and her BMI was 34.5.

She is now diagnosed as clinically obese and remains stable but needs to be on diet and exercise regularly. The case of the woman suggests that doctors should avoid the use of bacteria obtained from the stool of overweight or obese donors...."

Scientists are of the opinion that the possible causes could also be genetic factors, aging, or the superbug infections .

I personally know 3 people who attribute this procedure to improving their health immensely. I am good friends with the doctor who does this for those patients.

Oh, a fecal transplant saved my SIL's life many years ago; at that time they could not find a source in the U.S. for what she needed because of no FDA approval, so it had to be shipped from Mexico of all places.

I just find interesting the implication of 'bacterial obesity' in this story, that's all.

It's worth noting that the three folks who had the treatment also had horrible diet & excercise practices. But they swear by the treatment.

Well, you're probably like me and was born a skeptic, but there probably are obese people out there whose problems first began with their own microbiome ("Obese people appear to have a distinctive mix of digestive bacteria that make them prone to weight gain.").
